Which hotel near Disneyland?
We're looking at going down right after Thanksgiving and are debating where to stay. We've stayed at the Fairfield Inn twice and like it.
We're contemplating between HoJo and the Red Lion Anaheim. We're seeing comparable rates (using discount codes) between the 2 and are wondering what others have experienced. Walk? Shuttle? Pool? Amenities? etc.

Flat out the howard johnson. The hojo has great rooms and is a short walk to the parks.

Last year (June 30 - July 2-ish) we stayed at the Ayres Hotel Anaheim (east of Disneyland on Katella). We REALLY liked it. Clean. Quiet. Good breakfast. Sure, it's not right across the street from Disneyland, but the drive was really, really easy. Easily less than 15 minutes from hotel parking lot to Disneyland parking lot--with us walking towards the tram.
Pool is nice, so is hot tub. We had pizza delivered the evening we checked in.
Our vacation was flying into Ontario, driving to Sacramento the next day for a family reunion, driving back down to Anaheim a couple of days later, going to Disneyland for 2 days, then flying out of Ontario. I think it was about a 40 minute drive from the hotel to the airport. Easiest drive ever.
Unless we stay at the Disneyland Hotel, I think this will be our routine for future Disneyland trips (minus the drive to Sacramento).
Edit: We got a pretty good rate by booking on Expedia.com, BTW. I don't recall what it was, but we were happy!

The best non Disney hotel near the park had to be HoJo's hands down! The water park that they have for the kids is outstanding! The second best place that we have stayed is the Portofino Inn and suites. Very good bang for the buck for their family suites. A bit of a longer walk, but worth it. My kids loved the bunk beds.

When you say right after TG, do you mean the day after or the week after? If it's the day after you might still be swamped with people.

I stayed at the Marriot Hotel and we really enjoyed that, it wasnt too expensive about 100$ or so a night and it was only a 5 min walk to the front gate! from even the second floor you can see space mountain on the other side of the fence.

We haven't stayed at either place, but I have heard fabulous things about HOJO! Plus it's a much shorter walk than Red Lion.

I typically stay at any of the Marriott's, but I'll be staying at the Anabella Hotel in August.

We stayed at the Portofino Inn about a month ago. Not as close as some others but a short walk relatively speaking. Nice rooms, free parking during the stay. I'd highly recommend it.

Stayed at the Red Lion two years ago. The room was really nice, but it was a bit of a walk for us who are used to staying closer to the parks. This past week I stayed at the Castle Inn and Suites. It has the basics of a regular hotel room, truly no frills, but the bed was comfy enough.
