Hey, thanks for sharing that! Jungle Cruise was one of my favorite attractions when I was a kid. But nowadays I don't make a priority to go on it. But from what that article said, I can't help but be excited.

That sounds great! I can't wait to see it!

I think the interactive element is wonderful, and hope we see more attractions heading in that direction.

It will be. It already looks completely different. There's new and exciting plants everywhere backstage.

I can understand how people get down. I know I do once in a while. But with Jungle Cruise, you can't get away with it. It's such a bummer to go on it where the skippers are blah.

Sometimes it's not entirely our fault. It depends quite a bit on the responsivity of the guests. If they aren't responsve, we tend to give in a little bit. The way our rotation works, we deliver anywhere from 2-8 spiels in a row. We fall into auto pilot most of the time after the first boat of the rotation, and if the first boat wasn't responsive, it sets the mood for the rest of them. We try not to, but it's very difficult. Days like that aren't as much fun for us either, and that's why when we get in a boat, we put all of our heart into it. It'll be better for everyone including the skipper if you laugh at their jokes, especially when they may have messed up the timing, or punchline or they just decided to use one of the dumb jokes.

That's another thing we do. We change our spiels constatly. We realize that if we get bored with a joke, chances are that the guests are bored too, so we'll choose another one. That one, however is very rarely delivered correctly on the first try. It takes a couple of trips for the joke to becoeme standard and properly timed. The guests really do have to actively participate with the skipper. If they're all just along for the ride, so to speak, that's not going to be a very funny trip.

That's another common misconception. That we have to be funny. We don't have to be funny. We're not hired to be comedians. That's something we're currently trying to phase out of the Jungle, is the NEED to be a stand up comedian. The skippers tend to take things too far, and the spiel becomes inappropirate for all audiences. Like the Political jokes. I know them all, and I'm sad to say I've delivered some of them. They really do offend people, chances are more than they amuse people, so it really is in everyone's best intrest to eliminate the joke before it causes a problem. The regulars on the jungle cruise do not like this change. And to be quite honest, neither do the skippers. But, we all value our jobs, and are grateful to get the opportunity to be a skipper. We have to be patient and keep an open mind, and on behalf of my fellow skippers on the Jungle Cruise, I ask you to be patient and keep an open mind as well. The end result will be better.

I dunno. I don't think there has been a time where I've been on the Jungle Cruise and disappointed because of the Skipper. I never thought they were obligated to be funny, because it wasn't always like that. What I like about the ride and remember most aren't the jokes, it's whole jungle scene that does it for me.

Also, as the boat moves along, I might just tune out the Skipper as background noise and just contently take in the attraction.

But then again, I do have a weakness to corny and cliche jokes.

I really enjoy the night ones, the skippers start to throw a little more mature jokes, or some will not say anything which is nice sometimes since you can hear the sounds of the ride.
