Disneyland Railroad turns Green?

According to a recent article in the OC Register Disneyland just started using Bio-Diesel in all 5 trains. They tried using Soybean based Diesel fuel before but it never panned out. Apparently when they went to the Soybean based fuel they had issues storing it. Now with the Deepfat fryer oil they can just go from the fryer to a tank. Then through Transesterfication turn it into usable fuel. and what ever they don't use can just go out the same way they have always done.
I just wish they would run other vehicles on diesel. They have SO many trucks on property and they could save even more money running them. But again this might not work well due to the storage again. But in any case it is nice to see they being a little more green.

That was my initial thought when I saw the topic. Other than that I'm actually glad they've decided to go green. They did start going green with the Christmas tree last year so this is an upgrade one step at a time.

I do know they had switched over to green oil; but I did hear recently that they had switched back to diesel for some reason. Maybe not...

The reason they stopped the Soybean stuff was due to the storage issue. They had to have it shipped in, in large quantities none the less, and stored somewhere on property. The only place they had at the time was underground fuel tanks and that didn't work out because Soybean Diesel tends to go bad if not treated correctly. With the Deep fat fryer stuff you can do it the day you need it. That way you cut down on the storage problem, plus you don't have to buy it.

Or pay for disposal, it is a win-win. It makes DLR appear to take measures at being green and also saves on oil disposal costs.

Well, I was wrong...they have gone back to "green" oil. Thanks for the correction! I think it's always great when people can reuse without it being expensive or encumbersome...here's, it's mutually beneficial.

I think its great for them to save money on tho oil. Maybe they can spend more on bringing the People Mover back
