Disneyland fires Jack Sparrow actors

According to this story in the L.A. Times, Disneyland has fired the four actors who play Jack Sparrow because female guests were flashing them. The firings happened at the same time that additional Tinkerbell fairies were added to the cast, but Disney denies that the fairies replaced the pirates, and insists that it was all about the flashing.

Still, you have to wonder, would Disney fire the actresses who play princesses if men started flashing them? Of course not. The men would get arrested for indecent exposure (and probably face additional charges because they did it with kids present) and the princesses would keep their jobs. It's a funny situation.

Very interesting situation yet somehow it just does not line up correctly. This issue needs more investigation.

I thought that the reason they fired the actors were because they were too hot? I must have heard different variations of the story.

According to Mickey News, Disneyland is denying that they were fired due to flashers: http://www.mickeynews.com/News/DisplayP ... _1298Fires

It might just have something to do with the fact that the last movie came out 2 years ago and they are trying to push the Fairies more now than Pirates. If they keep the Jack Sparrows they have to keep paying them and the other pirates they have. They haven't said anything about firing the other pirates yet have they?

I've seen the other pirates roaming around NO Square like before the Island transformation. Lafitte's Landing on Tom Sawyer's Island is deader than disco. No telling how long they're going to last.

Right - just like the Festival of Fools disappearing after it had been awhile since HoND came out.

Awww, I never even got to see them! I heard that they were pretty awesome. I saw pictures from when my friend went, really looked like Capt. Jack! I wonder why Disney did that?!

I read an article that someone else posted somewhere on the forum about being a Jack Sparrow. I'd like to thank them, but I can't find the original post. It's very informative:

Makes me beleive that the flashing could really happen.

Makes you realize what the people entertaining us have to go through just to do their jobs.

I feel the actors shouldn't have been fired... they weren't the ones who were flashing... the female guests were the ones who were flashing... (is tha correct?)

That is correct. The Ladies were doing "stuff" and the actors weren't. I don't think they actually fired the actors, they most likely just transferred them to other acting positions.
