Haunted Mansion Holiday

Post by IMFearless » Oct Wed 01, 2008 6:30 am

So I heard HMH is up and going already.
So I heard that, due to the contract with Tim Burton, the Holiday has to be changed somehow each year.
What changed this time?

I don't know but I did see where this weekend at DL they are having an event:
Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas 15th Anniversary Product Release & Signing

Some of the merchandise looks great! I saw a necklace I wouldn't mind having :D

I have never been to the parks during Halloween, maybe I need to get off my rocker and do that, someday!

I know they added something new in the ballroom gallery scene. On the table they added a little coffin that opens up to reveal a large gingerbread man and they also added a scent of gingerbread for that scene. As for actual change regarding a contract, I'm not sure what will go on nor do I want it to happen.

Well ive been on HMH the past 2 years and didnt really notice any big changes that were obvious. The music sounded the same and the props all looked pretty similar to me. Maybe small and subtle things could have changed, but nothing too noticeable.

It's not supposed to be a big change ... IIRC, the biggest change so far was adding Oogie to the mirror hallway. But they've done something small for a change every year. Trust me, this is Disney. They're going to do as little as possible.

I think it is transformed. We'll be there next week to see for sure!

I can find out for you. I know one of the heads (not the singing busts, bad joke I know) that are in charge of the Holiday makeover every year.

I am in awe every time I see the gingerbread house they make - this years (a coffin that looks like the roof of the haunted mansion with a gingerbread man that sits up inside) is one of my favorites. I did realize that the vampire toy is in virtually every room though, he is so cute. :) - blue

I went on HMH two days ago and the gingerbread is a carousel with bone reindeer. Actually I know the guy who works at Disneyland that is in charge of what food belongs at the parks. His name is carlos and he also comes up with what the gingerbread is going to look like. Not many people know this, but the ballroom is a natural refridgerator down there and the gingerbread is real gingerbread! :D

Wow, the are really opening it early this year. It says they open on the 17th.

I always wonder, what do they do with the gingerbread afterwards? I remember seeing how they make it on food network and while it may technically be food it probably had the texture of a rock since it had to be so dense.
