What's Going on in New Orleans square???

Post by chefbuns » Sep Wed 24, 2008 10:28 am

I know why HM is closed but why is French Market and the train station closed? Does anyone know? I was not happy with the changes to the French Market's menu recently. I am hoping they will return it to it's greatness.

I think it may be up for refurbishments. Im not 100% on that, but I think that may be the cause. Anyone have anything to add?

I looked on the Disneyland official website and these were the only ones that were closed for refurbishment.

Big Thunder Ranch
Fantasmic!
Harbour Galley
Haunted Mansion
Horse Drawn Streetcars
it's a small world
Sailing Ship Columbia

^I think on the website the only include attractions, not restaurants (though I could be wrong there). I do believe they are just refurbishing the whole area as long as they had the Haunted Mansion down anyhow. We'll just have to see!
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I saw photos from yesterday on another site and it looked like the French Market had reopened. The only change (from the photos) that I could see was that they had taken the shade cover over the eating area down and replaced it with umbrellas over the tables. The menu looked to be just like it was after they changed it in June.

I'd like to update this post as I just saw photo's from Oct.5 and it looks like the shade cover over the eating area is back up.

I heard they were also repaving the cement in front of HM, just like what I believe they are doing in Tomorrowland.

When I was there over Labor Day when they put up the faux walls. I cannot believe how small it makes that side of the park feel. The one nice thing was the lines for Splash Mountain and Winnie the Pooh were shorter.

The repaving is only one of the many refurbs going on in that area. The french Market is closed for a kitchen rebuild and address issues with crowd flow in the restaurant. Also the train station is probably closed for the repaving project.

I would want to make a new topic but since this is NOS related, I'll ask here.

Does anyone know what's going on with the Court of Angels? I heard some rumor that they're going to use it for more retail space starting this month. Has anyone heard anything else or can confirm this?
