New Fantasmic Ending (2008)

I saw the new Fantasmic ending (with new pyrotechnics) for the first time this weekend.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vznsyYFH_4 (someone else's video, in case you want to see what I'm talking about)
It was all right, although I wasn't an enormous fan of the last green fireworks that went off on the final beat of the music. I always liked the way the lights turned off on the last note without the explosion.

Haven't seen updated show yet. Going on June 30, so we'll catch it then.

I haven't seen it, but I'm not all that impressed with what can be seen on the YouTube clip.

They had that back in Dec. I think my brother has video of it back at home. I didn't even think it was new. Hmm I guess I don't notice the little changes as much.

NO NO NO NO NO...
that last green flash should not be there...
The lights flickering out are supposed to symbolize the dream being over, much in the same way they symbolize the start of the dream in the begining when they turn on. I don't think there should be any fireworks once the lights go out.
Although this is coming from an avid reader who finds symbolism in the littleest details of anything.
The only reason I could think of that they would do this is people complaing about lack of fireworks. Like the same people that complain about that 'slow' portion of RoE.
and why green???

I had no idea they changed up Fantasmic. This is why I love this site for updates.

I am happy because the reason why they changed the fireworks is because they completely updated and redesigned the lighting for the entire show. The new fixtures they added are capable of things that the old one were not. I also think by using less fireworks and more lighting effects, they will be able to reduce the cost of the show each night and keep it running. The fact that they have been committed to updating the technology behind the show means that they are committed to the story of the show itself, which I think is the best shows in a Disney theme park. Now I can't wait for the digital projectors to replace the old film ones.

Yes, me too. I've skipped Fantasmic many times now. I don't know the last time I saw it. Now there's a reason to see it again. Actually, my father will be visiting from out of town this month and he's trying to get to Disneyland and I'll know he'll want to watch Fantasmic. Now I have two excuses. I hope the ending is decent.

I enjoyed the new effect. Thought the show was great! Hearing about it on here gave me a reason to sit and wait for the show again just to see how it would be. Had I not read about it I might just have skipped it. Thanks for the heads up.

I couldn't agree more.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the "go-go-go" of life that we don't take time to notice the little things: music volume contrasts, action changes of a stage show, and light/dark settings, among others. I know I'm guilty of it sometimes.
I know others may disagree with me here, but WDW does a good job of fireworks-based shows at MK and Epcot already. Why not continue to focus those efforts and effects there, maintaining Fantasmic as the high-tech stage show that it is?

I miss the massive amount of fireworks at the end that lit up the sky like it was daytime. I understand why they have the new ending. It's easier to see Mickey doing stuff. I do like the fireworks at the very end, although I agree with CheshireCat that it takes away from the symbolism.
