Grand Opening Problems

Post by little_hippo2005 » Jan Sat 22, 2005 10:07 pm

Does anyone know the problems that occured when Disneyland first opened in 1955? I know things like food shortages and not enought bathrooms occured. :)

And didn't the pavement get so hot that womens' heels were sinking into the asphalt? So now it's concrete?

Oh, and Tomorrowland used to be my favorite, but they changed it too much. So I'd have to go with New Orleans Square now.

I don't think they expected such a crowd for the opening! The parade was done with characters from the Disney On Ice show. And I know there were more small glitches here and there but even after all of that it still made it

*blink* aren't polls supposed to have something to do with the topic of the thread?

Yeah, from what I understand it was meant for press and special guests only, but a bunch of people made up fake passes to get in, hence the crowds. I've never heard about Disney On Ice, though. In fact, I didn't even know they had Disney On Ice back in 1955. Where did you hear this?

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that the poll/topic don't quite match up. Had to do a double take at first.

It was from some official thing Disney put out about the opening. If I run across it again I'll post it. And I also looked twice at the poll and the topic...

I'm Sorry I could not post a poll that matches the topic. Another problem at Disneyland was the fact that the landscape did not have that many plants, but garden weeds and he just had his crew give them Foreign names.

According to a reference in Jurassic Park, PotC didn't work when the park opened......but of course the Pirates didn't eat the people
