Great video eagle! Thanks for sharing that. I really like the simple heart beat idea they will have, it's a nice touch. I'm not sure I like the idea of them hijacking the boat to the island, because they already do that with the Columbia. I may get a little redundant. I will have to watch the video a few more times before I decide whether the changes with be good or great.

Not a lot was actually known about what was going to change on the island. We knew that the were going to change the theme to a pirate island but nothing else. With the video that you posted, we really can get a feel of how this "new" island is going to come together.

Thanx for sharing.

They are calling it "Pirates' Cove at Tom Sawyer Island". Looks like a lot of fun and a breath of life to a far-overlooked attraction.

At least they didn't drop all references to Tom Sawyer from the island. Whlie many are unhappy with this move for thematic issues, at least it breathes some life into the neglected attraction. Then again, I'm sure it will reach "capacity" should it become a very popular addition to the park. TSI operates well without huge crowds.

I hope this doesn't affect WDW too much. I liked the fact that TSI wasn't crowded at all while we were down in December. I think we saw AT MOST 10 other people on the island at the same time as us. the caves were empty (and a little stinky), the fort was kinda deserted, it was great. really felt like you left the park while over there.

I don't think it's happening to Walt Disney World... just at Disneyland. So no worries!

I actually hope it doesn't happen at Disneyworld, because the whole thing with both parks getting the same attraction simulatneously is now getting incredibly annoying. It's one thing when the attraction opens at different times, but now launching rides at the same time (i.e. Midway Mania, POTC overlay's).

That video is also part of the Official Disneyland video podcast.

I've actually never gone over to Tom Sawyer's Island so if nothing else I'm looking forward to heading over there for the first time and seeing what the excitement's all about.

WHAT! It has been a great place to get out of the sun and the crowds and to let the kids just run without getting seriously lost. Often we eat our packed lunch there in the shade listening to the water run. I hope that the changes don't make it a crowded place.

No one quote me on this, but I have read on other sites that the once extinguished Burning Cabin may be receiving a revival. Heck, even if they pull a fake fire routine on the cabin, I'll be elated.

I don't think they would do this to WDW. WDW's island seems a little more lively anyway and doesn't need as much 'new' attention. Although I haven't been on TSI in 3 years, the last time I was on WDW's TSI there was a good number of people and mostly everything was open. It also doesn't sound like what their doing to DL's island is permanent, sort of like the holiday stuff. Once the pirates fad dies down they may change it back and update the original stuff. But that could just be my wishful thinking.

At first i was kind of upset about the overlay, but the more i read about it the more i like the idea. Yeah i will miss ducking out from the crowds to play in the caves. hopefully it wont be to busy. i mean you will still have to take a raft to get there. Guess i wont know for certain if i like it until i see it myself.

What i dont understand is why does WDI tries to experiment totaly new radical ideas on Disneyland? Why not try it out at WDW first? If it doesnt work out like building the Pirate Island then they will not have tarnished the ORIGINAL. I know Disneyland was not meant to stay the same that it needs to change BUT somethings should stay the same.
