Remember...Dreams Come True Fireworks Spectacular

Post by Dr. Ravenscroft » Dec Fri 15, 2006 1:57 pm

Here is the link to the 50th fireworks video my brother finished. I have been waiting for it for at least 3 months now. Here is a piece of advise, let the video totally load before watching it so you don't get skipping like I do here at work. And don't judge by quality of the picture that is all google there, it looks 100x better on the TV here at the house.

And if that link doesn't work go to google video and type Kyle Tucker and it should come up.

I would say better than most. That is saying a lot because most of them were poorly done, and yours is a lot better then most. I still seen a video that has done an almost perfect job. I still like watching it.
Love Tomorrowland and Adventureland, but hard to decide to which one is best.

Love RCT3

I thought it was really good. How'd he manage to get the different angles in there? just a few of you with different cameras on the 1 day? or did they play these more than the 1 day?

These fireworks went on for the entire 50th celebration. We filmed on two different night one on July 17, 2005 and the other night was February something 2006. If you notice in the shot further back the fireworks are higher than in the closer one. This is because the neighborhoods around Disney finally complained about the fireworks debris falling in their yards and got them to lower it so it didn't get blown towards to homes. For anyone who has ever been there during this announcement now knows the reason: " attention do to high winds the Remember...Dreams Come True Fireworks Display is cancelled. We are Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank You"

While I don't doubt that the neighbors complained, I am highly skeptical that this is the primary reason for fireworks being cancelled on certain nights. High winds do end up being a problem for aerial fireworks for multiple reasons, whether the neighbors notice/care or not.

I fell behind in my readings of the Al Lutz Articles recently, I was sick so I didn't even feel like getting on the computer, but I just read the most recent article and I have to What the heck!!! I was reading that the remember....dreams come true Fireworks are going to be scaled back. I understand that we are in an economic crisis, but seriously!!! I can see not offering the show on particular nights or letting it go dark in the winter months unless it is a holiday, but to scale it back WTH!!!

OK before you all look at me like I'm insane maybe I should explain a few things. Back in 2005 when the show was first introduced the fireworks display had many firsts for Disneyland. One was the use of the buildings around the castle, like the roof of Peter Pan and Snow White. It was also the first time the castle itself was integrated into the show with many small charges going off on the fascia and lasers emitted from the front above the gate. Tinkerbell's flight is something else that is unique to Disneyland, not to mention the computer controls system, upgraded sound system, etc. They also employed their first use of surround fireworks, yes WDW has been using them for years but this was a first for Disneyland (for those who don't know surround fireworks are the ones that go off around the hub in a large circle at the same time).

The first thing that happened to the display was back in 06 or so when the locals complained about the smoke from the fireworks and Disney had to use lower altitude fireworks by court order. My opinion on this is that the residents moved into the area after Disneyland was constructed, there have been fireworks for YEARS here DEAL WITH IT!!!! The residents could have moved in to homes further from Disney but they Chose to live in the path of the smoke. This is like a family moving into a house that is in the flight path of an airport THEN complaining that the planes are flying too low. The second thing was the decision to shelve it for a while to save money. This I could understand more than the other stuff that has happened, there isn't a need to run Fantasmic and Remember on the same nights when your crowds are at 30-40% of capacity at the most. This was understandable and a smart decision to save money for the company that will undoubtedly be save Millions because of it.

Now on to the newest attack on the show. Plans seem to be in the works to cut down on the overall look of the fireworks. Plans have been made to eliminate the fireworks that launch off of Peter Pan, Snow White, Alice in wonderland, and Pinocchio. All this because they want to open up Fantasyland during the show so guests stop complaining about the fact that they can't go on the rides an hour before the show, I mean come on!!!! Are you Kidding me!!!!! So now because of the fact that one executive wants to open Fantasyland the show is made to suffer, this is unacceptable to me. What not just wait until the new fireworks display comes online next year to do this, why must they do this to an already existing show, one that has proven itself time and time again? I just don't get it, just to stem the tide of complaints about the bathrooms not being open or the fact that uninformed guests (meaning someone that has no ides that at Disney you have to plan some things) feel they should be able to ride a ride in a danger zone because it is there, seriously? You people need to shut up and deal with it.

Ok I can see the bathroom thing, but you can solve part of that, let the guests use it but have a cast member one of each gender at the entrance or inside to make sure everyone is out 15 minutes prior to the show. This would stop the people from complaining and help cast members on the front line. The fantasyland thing is kind of a touchy subject for, as is this whole thing, I am a certified Pyro Technician and I can tell you that if the guests knew what the dangers were behind that rope that is so nicely protecting them they would be warry of entering that area during the fireworks launching. I have talked with many of the castmembers that are on fire control in that area, it ain't pretty. I understand that shrubs and bushes are always catching fire and sometimes even buildings. I even here that the canal boats had a shell comedown into it years back from the launcher, amazingly it did not explode but it should have. If that happened when guests were riding through and it......well you get the idea.

So what I'm saying here in this long winded rant is that I think they should leave remember dreams come true alone and not change anything about it. If you are going to mess with a formula mess with the new display coming next year, you only have to wait one year. With the reductions in height, times availability, and now quantity they are slowly killing the best fireworks display EVER at Disneyland. I say ever because when was the last display that drew as many guests in? Which display has ooh'd and ah'd as much as this one? My only request of Disney is to not let the greatest display die a slow death, let it go out with the cracks, bangs, and booms it always does.

I love the Firworks display. It is always fun and brings back lots of memories. We will have to see how they fair in the new version coming this summer.

I hope they add some more to Rivers of Ameirca to draw interest.

We will see. :donald:
