It seems that more people come to Disneyland only because the Pirates movie and Johnny Depp. It seems they forgot or have no idea about their truly greatest achievements like Splash Mountain, HM, and Small World

Personally, I think it's all just temporary. The craze will wear off and Disneyland will return to normal (with a few additions to the Pirates ride itself). Disney's just trying to take advantage while people are obsessed.

HMMMMMM :| I guess that's good. It seemed like the craze was taking over. With the talk of changes Tom Sawyer to Pirates really ticked me off.

I think it's a rather welcome focus. Disney, in general, needed to get back to quality storytelling and memorable characters and they got both with the Pirates of the Caribbean. As for the remake of Tom Sawyer's Island, I think it's more of an idea on the table for Disneyland, but if it does make its way, it will add some depth to the area. I will miss the caves and bridges even though I'm no longer a kid, but a kid at heart.

Reminds me of when the focus was on Michael Jackson. It's a fad... probably.

I really liked it. I think that Sparrow and Barbossa add a lot to the ride. They did a great job of making the figures.

I think the Pirates movies will always be popular, but a few years after the third one comes out and there are no more, the focus on it will die down.

This kind of reminds me of my thoughts on the Nemo redo at The Living Seas in WDW. Sure, a cartoon clownfish has taken over the pavilion. BUT, if this gets people in there and interested in the oceans, that's a good thing.

Maybe the Pirates franchise will get more people interested in the ride that started it all and all the hard work that went into it and the history of Disney.

But maybe not. Maybe all it's doing is making people love Johnny Depp more.

 Captain Eo! But boy I remember it was HUUUGE. The first year, by midafternoon the line would run all the way to the entrance of Tomorrowland.

Now, hard to believe.

I do think that they've gone overboard on the Pirates theming. I'm getting sick of it, especially since the 2nd Pirates was so poorly done compared to the first one.

However, one good thing is coming of all this, some things are being redone and looked after finally. I do not want Tom Sawyer to go, but at least they'll do something with the island instead of letting it rot.

You know what, I really hopr Disney's Imagineers are surfing the web and stumbling on Subsonic. So they can see our discussion as Disney Fans in action. I mean, we're the ones who are keeping the parks still running

Walt once stated that (not a quote) the park would change to reflect the ever changing tastes of park guests. Because of this, I think that the changes to Pirates are good changes. I also think that they will not last forever.

I like the new Davy Jones effect, and its a little more interesting with the rest, but I feel its maybe to commericalized.

Yes Disney is just looking at the short term with this Pirates craze but in all honesty. I loved it! I have been obsessed with pirates since i was a little girl and spent most of my summer trip in new orleans watching the pirates take over. I really loved the stage show and keept singing the songs for weeks.

I still do not know if i like the changes to the ride though. Yes the animatronics are amazing but i already miss the classic ride. Also a CM told next year they are adding Elizabeth Swan and Will turner to the ride aslo! A bit much don't you think?!
