Only one day at Disneyland

My daughter and her best friend might have a day to play in LA next Spring. Should they check out Disneyland or California Adventure? Or is it possible to hit both parks? (They will be 20.) They've asked me for advice, but I just don't know what to tell them as I've only been to DL, and that was 15 years ago!

How about do both parks. California Adventure in the morning and Disneyland in the Afternoon.

Oh man, they've gotta do both - I can't imagine missing California Screamin, Grizzly River Rapids and Soarin at California Adventure.

That's hard to say. If I had one day, I'd go for Disneyland. It depends on what kind of rides they like, and how long they're willing to wait. It is possible to hit both parks and do all the major attractions.
Maybe get a park hopper ticket, do Disneyland in the morning(because it opens earlier, right?), then head on over to DCA, then back to Disneyland at night time for a couple of rides then see Fantasmic or fireworks.
But if they unfamiliar with the place, then I suggest doing one park, because otherwise it may seem like rushing.

It depends on a lot of things. One is the day of the week they decide to go...Over the past week, we've had attendence vary from 23-30+ thousand changing from day to day. If they can make it during the middle of the week and it doesn't necessarily fall on the week that all the schools get off for spring break, doing both parks should be no problem. But, if it comes down to trying not to rush, I'd say just go to Disneyland. You only miss 2-3 rides not going to DCA, and you get more of an ambiance at Disneyland.

Two parks in one day is possible. I'll be doing it for the third time July 27th. Two basic rules: Plan to be there from opening until near closing, and know how to use Fastpass. FP itself saves my neck almost every time!

I did both parks in one day during the first weekend in July last year.
Hint: Know what you wanna ride at both. there are websites that have a list of attraction and resturants in both parks, sit wiht your daughte rnad maybe her friend and talk to them about what they want.

And let them know that you can have a FP at DL and at DCA at the same time. (Or at least you could 15 months ago. ) A lot of walking, but well worth it.

(You can still hold fastpasses at both parks)
Have they ever been to either park before? Or the magic kingdom at WDW?
If they're going to DCA thinking "it's going to be magical, just like Disneyland!" they'll be disappointed.

Oh yes, be sure to check the "Next Fass Pass will be available" time. It's usually earlier than the return time. You can have multiple passes at the same.
