Nightmare Before Christmas and Haunted Mansion

Post by GoofyInOhio » May Tue 23, 2006 1:26 pm

OK, let me start this by saying I've never been to Disneyland (But I'm dying to go) and that I know very little about how things work there unlike Disney World.

Alright with that being said when is the Nightmare Before Christmas stuff set up at the Haunted Mansion? Christmas Time? Before Halloween?
Do they still do this I guess is another question?

We are looking at booking a trip for next year and possibly 08 because we already have 2 Disney World trips this year. Any help would be appreciated!

It is usually during the month of September. HM usually closes right after labor day for about three weeks. It is usually back up as HMH by the last day of September.

Edited to add: Last year it was 9/12 - 9/29.

So it was closed from 9/12-9/29 and then re-opened as the Holiday Haunted Mansion On October 1st? Is is opened through Christmas then or just during October? I heard the soundtrack for this and got really excited. :)

Thanks Club33Hopeful! :D

Last year, it reopened on 9/30 as HM Holiday and stayed open until it closed for switching back on January 18th. You can expect the holiday version to be open all of October thru New Years Weekend.

For all the years that I went to DL growing up (60's til when I left Cali in 1977) I never remember going during Halloween. I mean even when I took my son there on vacation. When (what year) did they start doing the Halloween stuff. Was it in timing with the Nightmare Before Christmas or whatever it is called  my memory fails me, probably cause I am having decaf coffee this morning instead of the regular

That is one reason I want to time a trip and see all the seasonal stuff. I have been during Christmas. So want to go during Halloween some time! I will add that to my to do list.

If I'm not mistaken, 2001 was the first year of the overlay. I know for certain that 2001 was the first year they held a merchandising event for HMH.

I have read that they do the Country Bears and It's a Small World in Holidays as well. Is this done after Thanksgiving like Christmas lights at Disneyworld or is this also done in September?

Country Bears has been gone for a number of years now. They used to do the Christmas show, but they removed the Country Bear Jamboree theater to make room for the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Small World changes to Small World Holiday every year in late October / early November, and switches back in January. Last year, it was down from 10/24 to 11/10 to install, and then from 1/9 to 1/25 to remove the overlay.

Wow. I didn't know they removed the Country Bear Theater. Just hearing alot of the songs on Subsonic is where I've initially heard of some of the stuff at Disneyland.

Thanks Again!

^Yeah, unfortunately they did close down the show for Winnie the Pooh. My best description of the ride -- there is never a line.

Oh yeah, I'm back from the dead Subsonic boards. :D

In a weird way, it is the best ride in the park from a line length perspective. :)

Yes, on a quantitative measuring stick of, say, length of wait vs. length of ride, I have to imagine Winnie the Pooh is the BEST RIDE IN THE PARK!

I, however, miss Henry.

The Winnie the Pooh ride was the best ride in the park! Why did they take it out? I love DisneyLand! It is the best place ever. They are adding a few things to different rides, but I think that it will still be the same and even cooler.
I do stuff sometimes.
