Best way from the grapevine to disneyland 5-6pm on a thurs?

I have done the 5 all the way down and its so old and narrow that I know its a bad choice at 5-6pm..

What other options are there?

I've done the 405 before, but that is usually painful around that time too.

When I'm driving into work from LA, I take the 405 to the 22, regardless of the time. When I'm driving home, I take the 5 to the 101, regardless of the time. They function well.

I've heard of someone who used to do those kinds of trips take the S 405, to the 105, 91, 5.

Well I can definetly NOT recommend I-5 the whole way.

Hopefully next time I can hit it at a better time

In any case I will try something different unless its like 2am.

I would suggest the 210 east to the 57 south. The 210 travels well more often than not and I went to the DLR going this way last time I was there.
