I've heard that the Lilly Belle train car is refurbished and back on the tracks. There are pictures on laughingplace.com and it looks beautiful. Is this a car that us normal type people ride in, or is it for special important people?

It doesn't look like a car that would be open to the general public. The furnishings remind me of the inside of Walt's Disneyland apartment.

If that was open to the public I can see all the ill mannered folks in the world ruining it for the rest of us well behaved people would could truly appreciate that train car for its true value in our Disney hearts ... No I am not running for political office

It would be cool if a ride in the Lilly Belle were part of one of the tours--small group, extra money for Disneyland, supervision in the car by a guest host/hostess. A ride in that car might be enough to get me to spring for one of the tours.

I agree, maybe part of the Walk in Walt's tour because you ride the train anyway why not make it this car. And also use it for weddings and special events. I will check on the useage in 12 days, woo hoo!

Thanks for posting the link zenmondo. As the docs stated so well, I would definitely go on a tour just to be able to ride in the Lilly Belle. Special events would be so magical there too!

No problem posting the link. My web-fu is strong, and I am glad to do it. I certainly hope someone hear keeps their ear to the rail and we find out just how special one needs to be to ride the Lilly Belle.

Little Trivia: The Lilly Belle was also the name of Walt's minature steam engine, named after his wife, Lillian Disney.

Very cool - that I want to see. Can't wait to hear what all it will be used for and who all gets to go on board...

Side note - is the caboose only used for special events, etc. as well?

Oh, that is gorgeous inside; I can't see myself riding in it unless I was either invited, having royalty birth, or being extremely wealthy! Or, if anyone could ride in it (a tour, for example), I'd feel the need to dress up fancy!

Jim Hill Media today has an article about the Lilly Belle Car.

They are calling the Lilly Belle a "VIP parlor car". So I guess you have to be someone famous or important to ride in it.

The article also talks about a fifth engine at Disneyland, the Ward Kimball.

Laughing place also has more photos now. And the locomotive Ward Kimball made its debut this week - there was some good news coverage for that event and the official introduction of the Lilly Belle [on the same day]. Wonderful restoration work on both of them!

Yup, their four engines are the Lilly Belle, Walter E. Disney, Roger E. Broggie, and Roy O. Disney. And as a side note, the Lilly Belle now only transports the characters to the opening ceremony of the Magic Kingdom and her safety rails were removed to make it easier for the characters to move.
