While my family goes to Disney World at least once a year, I've never been to Disneyland. I live in CT so they think it's too expensive and too far away. Finally, my aunt has decided to go with me sometime within the next year or so. I know at Disney World it is almost impossible to see everything in a week. Is this the same at Disneyland?
What rides should I definitly see?

You can definitely do the entire Disneyland Resort (Disneyland+California Adventure) in three days- attraction-wise.

What rides? Hmm..doesn't WDW have pretty much everything that Disneyland has?

Well definitely do Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion(holiday), Pirates of the Caribbean, Tower of Terror, and Screamin' in DCA.

But as for shows: You must see Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular in DCA, Fantasmic!, Remember...Dreams Come True, and Parade of Dreams if if there.

Those are just some of the attractions you should do.

Things to do at DLR that are not at WDW:

(note, these aren't all the things you should do, but here are some unique-to-DLR attractions)

Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters (no, really, it isn't the same as Space Ranger Spin)
Roger Rabbit's Car-Toon Spin
Haunted Mansion Holiday
It's A Small World Holiday
Indiana Jones Adventure
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Alice in Wonderland
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
California Screamin' (DCA)
Grizzly River Run (DCA)

Attractions that are at WDW and DLR, but different in some way at DLR:

Pirates of the Caribbean
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Tower of Terror (DCA)

Thanks for the list. I can't wait to ride of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I miss the one at WDW

they have it, I think DLR is better than the magic kingdom, IMO

First, try and make it during the holidays so you can see Haunted Mansion Holiday and Small World Holiday.

Second, I'm very curious to find out your views about DLR compared to WDW. It would seem there's so much less to do and it would be underwhelming compared to the vastness of WDW. I think the first thing one would notice is that you still feel like you're in the city while at DLR. There's so much around DLR.

I'll never forget when I was at WDW's Magic Kingdom riding the Steam Train on the back side of the park. There's not this wall behind you the entire time. There was greenery as far as the eye could see. It was quite strange.

While there may be a lot more to do in WDW as a whole, I get the impression that Disneyland Park is better than WDW's Magic Kingdom. Is this true?

The longest trips I have had to Disneyland have been three days. I have gone on two day trips and have done everything I wanted to. But I have not been since the California Adventure park opened, so maybe three days will be just about right.

It seems to me the third day was always laid back, just going on the favorite rides and not worrying too much about lines.

Not sure about which on is better. The Magic Kingdom seems so spread out, while Disneyland seems a bit smooshed together, more cozy? I've grown up going to Disneyland, so I'm biased.

They are managable. Best with FASTPASS as always.

Definately TAKE YOUR TIME. And enjoy DCA -- it's only here, as opposed to something like Star Tours, which can be experienced in Floriday. Plan to stay for a while, there's no rush.

Taking time is definitely good advice. Many times we just go from attraction to attraction without taking time to soak in the unique Disneyland atmosphere! It's so relaxing to just sit on a bench and lose yourself in thought.
