And eat at sit-down places such Goofy's Kitchen (DLH), Vineyard Room (DCA), Blue Bayou (DL), etc. Always a good time for a good meal.

The lines have been much longer since the 50th. The Space Mountain line is horrible now. Definately get a fast pass for it right when the park opens. They run out fast.

I agree -- Space Mountain and Splash Mountain are the two attractions you need FASTPASS for the most in the entire Resort.

I probably won't be able to go until well after the 50th

Thanks for everyone's advice! I'm taking notes!

For Splash Mountain, it depends on the weather as well. If it's cold and in the morning, the line shouldn't be too long. But definitely Fastpass Space Mountain.

Or Single Rider, if everyone in your party is willing.

Ok, I thought of another question:
If the lines are really long and/or I can only ride the Matterhorn once, which side do you guys recommend? I've seen on-board videos and they look a little different

Out of habit, I always go on the Matterhorn side that's facing Tomorrowland. That side is also the one with a small dip at the end. Both sides are fun though.

Yes, that's "B side". And the drop is called "Dolly's Drop".

Is there a story behind the name?

I'll take a crack at answering this. We go to Disneyland about every other year and have only been to WDW once, last year.

My opinion is that if you're comparing just the Magic Kingdom with Disneyland, you'll find that Disneyland has a lot more to do. It's amazing how they've put so much to do in such a small space. Disneyland just feels "cozy". DCA is right across the plaza so I consider it as part of Disneyland and there's some great stuff in there too.

WDW was incredible, though, with so much to do and see. I love the boat ride across the lake to the Magic Kingdom entrance.

I like bdinger's reasoning, but you can go for three days and get the entire experience. I went on the 50th day and stayed for a week, but the day of was just so packed and there were so many things to do for the occasion that we ticked that day off of the traditional experince chart. It was an experience unto itself.

If you do get the chance to go for more days it is great because you can cruise the parks very gingerly. You can devote days to each or you can go on your favorite rides one day and see all of the shows on another.

And the reason a lot of people like Disneyland is because it is cozy and traditional. At least that is why I like it.

One of the main reasons I want to go is just to see Walt's original park

We made our first trip out to DLR this past year on the way to Hawaii. We love going to WDW but wanted to see "the original." I really enjoyed DLR and it has it'w own charm, but WDW is still my favorite. Even though I thought I was prepared for the size of the castle, it was much smaller than I had anticipated. And other small things are different, such as riding the monoral and seeing much more "behinds the scenes" things than you would ever see at WDW. But don't take me wrong. I really enjoyed being where Walt walked and I hope that we can go back and visit DLR again.
