Disneyland's Two Newest Residents

Two turkeys from Minnesota (my home!) will be traveling to Disneyland via the White House. They'll be pardoned from the inevitable by the president and celebrate their freedom in the Disneyland Thanksgiving Parade. Then they will stay there (wish I was them), spending the rest of their happy little lives in Disneyland!

The White House wrote:This year, after the presentation, the National Turkey and its alternate will be taken to Disneyland Resort and Theme Park in Anaheim, California to be a part of the holiday display and where they will stay the remainder of their natural lives. Both the turkeys will serve as honorary Grand Marshals for Disneyland’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Thanks for the details eagle. The turkeys are currently named Blizzard and Snowball (because they are white and of course come from Minnesota). Actually, I like those names better than any in the poll. Maybe they'll keep them?

Interesting, I watched an Unwrapped (great show on the Food Network) about Turkey Day and those Turkeys were on it.

I want to say something about the President and the National Turkeys, but I'll refrain.

I didn't even know we had National Turkeys. Lucky birds get to live at Disneyland. I imagine them sitting on small cushions and being fanned by cast members in the shade, while people take pictures of them. Hahaha....yeah.

I like Marshmallow and Yam as the names. But Blizzard and Snowball are good winter-white turkey names.

The offical vote led to the renaming of the turkeys - they're now Marshmallow and Yam! If I had to change them, that is positively the best. I got to see them pardoned on the news and I do wish I could see them in the Disneyland Thanksgiving Parade!
