?? Really? I'm not familiar with the movie, so maybe it will be good, but it seems strange. Maybe it is just a seasonal sort of overlay like the Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion things? Or just for a few months for the movie premiere?

That's not what I got out of reading the whole article. I hope you're right though. I haven't watched the movie but Jeff and the girls think it's pretty funny. He says I'd like it but I'm just not into that sort of thing anymore.

Yeah, it looks permanent from the article ~ I was just hoping. Like I said, I'll wait and see, but much like Star Wars, Marvel just isn't my thing. Those national parks are looking better all the time!

The movie was excellent. But overall, I don't want Disney to turn into Star Wars/Marvel parks. I did hear that they thought younger people are not familiar enough with the Twilight Zone and that is why they are changing it. But I love the theming as is. Especially the 20-40s feel. I hope WDW doesn't get this.

Because... paying CBS royalties for a franchise that is so dead that the riders are disconnected from the brand is a bad idea? If you were old enough to watch the first run version of the show, you probably are unfit to ride the ride. They are probably also testing how a sci-fi overlay would work since it will probably need to happen for DHS.

In all honesty, I don't think anyone cares about the Twilight Zone part of ToT. The theming is nice, the imagineers did a nice job with it, but understanding who Rod Serling (Sirling?) was doesn't add to the fun of the attraction. It's enough to state it was a great hotel until a thunderstorm and lightning strike changed it.

The only problem is now, they painted themselves into a corner. If they tried to keep it exactly the same but remove direct references to the franchise (god help anyone who tried to sneak in anything from the old ride) they would probably get sued since it uses the "Twilight Zone" story. If they were going the route of TDS and, from the start, used an original story it would have a better chance. Even then, since we are talking about different countries with different companies owning the rights, they may still get sued if they tried that. Throw in that the change would be costly either way, so spending a fortune to make it look almost exactly the same as it was before the update, would not be as appealing a use of funds as doing something new.

As Guardians is part of Marvel, and USO holds the rights for Marvel at the themeparks, how can DHS use Guardians for ToT without infringing on Marvel's deal with USO?

Really hoping this was a late April Fool's Day post by Disney and that they soon correct it. The horror! The horror!

Section IV numbers 10 and 11 ~ exclusivity clause. As I read it, basically DL is West of the Mississippi so any characters are fair game. (Didn't read much further than that, so I'm including the link ~ killer sinus headache tonight so extra reading is off the list for the moment )

But, I would imagine Disney did only agree to it with a termination on that clause since a "for now and forever" would really screw them over, which appears to be in that contract (which already may have expired). Throw in that Guardians may be considered a different franchise from anything in the Avengers (which would have Hulk, Iron Man, and I guess Spiderman now).

This is correct, Amy. Which is why USH can't have Marvel.
