I'll be honest, I can't see how the Little Mermaid fits into the whole "California" theme of that park...

Technically it's been there from the start with King Triton's carousel, and then was expanded when Wolfgang Puck left, and they never stated the exact loation of atlantica so it could be in the pacific.

So Eric's kingdom was located somewhere along the coast of California?!?Wizzard419 wrote:Technically it's been there from the start with King Triton's carousel, and then was expanded when Wolfgang Puck left, and they never stated the exact loation of atlantica so it could be in the pacific.

Well... considering that Ariel's Grotto took over the space for Avalon Cove we can always just lie and say he lived on Catalina Island.

Shouldn't have Eric in the movie gone running around with a surfboard and calling every male he sees, "dude"?Wizzard419 wrote:Well... considering that Ariel's Grotto took over the space for Avalon Cove we can always just lie and say he lived on Catalina Island.

I've got to agree. It seemed for a time like they were going to divide into Pixar park and Disney park, but I guess that only works as far and as long as the space allows it.mindflipper wrote:I'll be honest, I can't see how the Little Mermaid fits into the whole "California" theme of that park...

I'm behind on this since school's been keeping me occupied.

I wonder if the fastpass sign is someone's way of having fun?
Every time the ride is closed for a long period of time it shows up every now and again.

I can see "Little Mermaid" (because of the ocean) before I can see "Cars" (somewhere in the desert of AZ...except for perhaps a Route 66 tie in).mindflipper wrote:I'll be honest, I can't see how the Little Mermaid fits into the whole "California" theme of that park...

Somehow by the facade of the building they have been finding a way to make it blend in. I guess they think the coast can help play a role in letting it fit in. Definitely not a bad move by disney. They have done far worse with the Florida parksmindflipper wrote:I'll be honest, I can't see how the Little Mermaid fits into the whole "California" theme of that park...

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
But as people complain about how Mission: Space and Test Track fit with the theme of Future World of EPCOT, I think this is an even worse mismatch of themes with the California theme of DCA. At least one can come up with some good reason for how the other 2 fit into EPCOT, but there's nothing that makes sense of TLM fitting with DCA's California theme unless...they change DCA and it's theme. TLM would fit into the theme if they made the park instead "Disney Pixar Studios Theme Park".Len90 wrote:Somehow by the facade of the building they have been finding a way to make it blend in. I am still thinking it's kind of a decent sized risk with the little mermaid. As much as you may love the movie, the actual character hasn't been that active since about 2000 (with a direct to VHS/DVD movie) other than the odd bit of merch and a few levels in the kingdom hearts games. I don't know if kids will be crazy excited about the ride.

But their parents will be excited for the ride since they will probably have fond memories of The Little Mermaid from their childhood. And the parents are the ones who buy the tickets!Wizzard419 wrote:I am still thinking it's kind of a decent sized risk with the little mermaid. Indeed they are, but the question that remains is "Will this be another Toy Story Mania or will it be a Superstar Limo/Monster's Inc?".

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
I would think the sheer scope of this attraction should put it into the Toy Story Mania category...at least for now. TSM is still a fairly new attraction so who knows how long it will remain as popular as it is now?!Wizzard419 wrote:Indeed they are, but the question that remains is "Will this be another Toy Story Mania or will it be a Superstar Limo/Monster's Inc?".
