Also gives a good idea of what we can expect from the Little Mermaid ride that will open in the WDW MK Fantasyland Expansion in 2012ish.

At this stage it doesn't look terribly unique/groundbreaking, but this is still not the final product, so it's too early to call.

We have yet to see any of the main animatronics (Ariel and Ursula). I remember reading or hearing (don't remember which) an Imagineer working on the ride talking about what a task it will be (was?) to make Ariel's hair move like it is under water when it really isn't. :ariel:

Either way, it's coming along nicely both inside and out!
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

I think the goal was to create a Fantasyland Dark Ride like the good old days. I was impressed with Pooh and some of the new tricks the employed (more over the ones they used at TDL's Pooh) so I expect any new tricks they will try to keep under wraps as best they can until the ride opens.

I hope WDW's attraction is similar, the one slated for DCA looks very nice :D

I would guess they would want to try to keep the big secrets a secret so they can have some "wow" factor when it finally is revealed. As much as it is nice to see the teasers and behind-the-scenes shots, it is also nice to really be genuinely surprised when the new attraction is revealed!

I would place money on a finding Nemo ref within the ride somewhere.

Or that. Then again Nemo's stuck in It's A Small World so he can stay there. Let Ariel have her own fun.

Funny you should mention this...Mom and I spotted Ariel in the It's A Small World attraction in Florida!! You'll have to check out the trip report to see the details ;)
(That part of the trip report isn't up yet of course, but we did see the Little Mermaid herself at IASW!!!!) :ariel:

It can be argued that she is also in Peter Pan's Flight in Florida.

It could be argued that they just resemble Ariel as mermaids were part of both attractions long before the movie was made...

Not just the mermaids! We really saw Ariel :ariel:
Like I said, you'll have to be patient as it will all be explained in the trip report! And, there is a picture to back up the story
