The building is there, it was gutted (not sure when) and it was used this holiday for an event. The original idea was to make the temporary entry almost like going into DS in paris. I am guessing the reason that they don't do the American Idol thing is that there are not as many people in DCA on a given day.
Right now they are probably going as fast as they can with the entry and stuff in public areas because once the high season hits again the work slows to a crawl.

They still have it though they've used it for various things. I think at one point it was used for an annual passholder building then it was used during the holidays. As for the entrance, it'll be by Soarin' Over California as far as I know.

So like EPCOT and WDW MK, DCA already has unoccupied buildings that go unused....what a waste...

Hopefully they plan on doing something with those unoccupied buildings. They should do something with them while the expansion plan is going.

And we have all thought that about those here in Florida, and there they quietly sit unused and neglected...

Did anyone else notice that in the concept art for California Adventure, the signage over the entrance still has the 'S in Disney's California Adventure?

Is that recent? I haven't gone to the Blue Sky Cellar in a while so I don't know if they've updated the sign.

I would think it was fairly recent, the concept illustration was in one of the last two MiceChat articles

Oh yeh, welcome to Disney's Hollywood Studios. I can see that name change once the expansion & renovations are completed in 2012...

I believe that's what they're aiming for. No clue as to WHY.

Isn't the entry path supposed to be a lead up to reproduction of the site where he got his first oscar? As for what the gate has to do with Hollywood at all (same for DHS) you've got me there. It looks more like San Dimas (they apparently had some stuff like that in the past).

Even the entryway has a gas station in it, just like DHS (except DHS is to the right, here in the concept art it's to the left). It reminds me more of the main drag upon entering DHS that leads up to the giant sorcerer's hat/Chinese Theatre.

On the plus side, they are thinking of a Bill and Ted reboot so at least San Dimas is relevant again. My former boss would yell at me whenever I would make a reference to "Wild Stallions" when he would mention his hometown.
