Dr. Ravenscroft wrote:Yes for me on the Skyway. That is my most missed ride/attraction in Disneyland. The reason is because that is one of only three things that stuck in my mind about my first trip to Disneyland. I was all of about 7 years old and I only remember the Skyway, Kissing mickey on the cheek, and Tomorrowland (in general no specific ride or anything).
I actually feel the same. I enjoyed the Skyway very much and it is also one of my very clearest memories of my first trip to Disneyland when i moved to California. It was great! i was about the same age as well 6 i think...
The Happiest Times I've had is at D-land with the one I Luv...

Ugh, the first thing that popped into my head was then the lowered "Rocket Jets" that Disney moved to the front of Tomorrowland at DLR. I think it conceals the lack of life of everything missing behind it. :( IE: Peoplemover and Rocket Jets.

I dunno, I feel this looks more futuristic...

I miss journey through innerspace. Mainly just because I saw it once when I was a kid, and would like to see it again. I was never lucky enough to enjoy the people mover unfortunately :(

That sucks that your Jets are just sitting on the ground. Makes it just another Dumbo. The whole appeal of the Jets were that they were higher than Dumbo and were something you graduated to as you grew up.

It doesn't even save any space if the old Jets area isn't hosting an attraction.

um, how dare you! they are hosting the satellite dish that spins around with music and then shoots a message to space every 15 minutes, a key attraction in Tomorrowland!
/sarcasm
That is the most useless thing in the park. Every time the music starts playing and the thing starts spinning around people think something is going on, and look up and then the thing just sits there and does nothing and people get confused. This is literally around 80% of the people that I see in Tomorrowland have no idea what it is and are just confused and dissapointed by it. It is probably the biggest waste of power and resources in the park (not even including the opportunity cost of putting the Rockets or some other attraction there).

I've said this before, but I'll say it again because it's probably lost somewhere now. I was working there when the new Tomorrowland was being built. We were handed flyers describing what was in store for the changes. Well, that thing at the top of the old Jets was described as something like, "Every fifteen minutes it will come alive and with a display of lights, music, and sounds will shoot a message into space". Now, being the visionary I am and wanting to run the parks I thought, "Oh, this could be cool, like a light show with lasers and effects that cover all of Tomorrowland" I was thinking something as elaborate as the Fremont Experience in Downtown Las Vegas.

I think those murals on the sides of Tomorrowland, those should be changed into video screens. They should display the same thing that's there now (Space Station 77 and Star Tours) but animated. Keep it subtle but the motion will make the area seem futuristic. Then every 15 minutes play a cool video show encompassing the stupid spinning thing. Sigh... there are SOOO many missed opportunities right now.

You could play the MSEP on those walls once a night. One hell of a screensaver.

You're right, they could really do so much with "screens" in Tomorrowland, especially that kind of incidental "free show" stuff.

Then the screens would actually be plussing the experience, as opposed to being used in place of some kind of real construction.

Also, I failed to mention that during the shows, they could pay homage to Mary Blair by showing her old murals on the walls.

That's a great idea! The video screens would be very cool, as long as they keep the current murals as part of them, at least the Star Tours one. The Star Tours mural is one of the most iconic Tommorowland images (for me at least), second only to Space Suit Mickey neon on the Star Trader (if they ever get rid of that I will cry like a little girl). The video screens would be really cool and they could do some fun surprise things with them. One the one in front of Buzz you could show the top ten for the day and things like that, and maybe you could also broadcast video of the Tomorrowland Terrace bands playing or Jedi Training Academy (although that might hamper traffic)/

I really miss America Sings. I remember the feeling of leaving the auditorium after the program, stepping out into the sunlight. It really made you feel like you'd been on a journey. The Country Bear attraction had a similar revue-type format, although I didn't like it quite as much as America Sings.

Like many other people, I also miss the Peoplemover. There was rarely a line to get on the ride, and it was a great way to spend 10-15 minutes later in the afternoon when your feet were tired. Plus, I really liked the cheesy 1970s background music!

Another vote for Adventure Thru Inner Space! It was such a departure from all the other rides in that it didn't have any characters in it. I mean, there was the narrator, but he wasn't visually represented anywhere in the ride. The whole thing was very trippy and abstract. And those of us old enough to remember the last decade or so of it's operation may recall the sickly-sweet hint of marijuana that often hung in the air once your car passed the well-lit giant snowflake area. Great ride for THAT sort of thing too, as I recall....
