Two holiday theme things I never liked, dumping a huge plastic chunk of fake snow on a building in southern california. It's warm and it looks like someone dropped "frosting" on the building rather than snow. That and the home use of LED string lights, while they don't burn out in your lifetime the cables appear to have the same lifespan as normal bulbs so keeping them forever would not be the safest move.

If the swirl part lights up then bravo, they've used led ribbons and soon will be in your home (give or take 3 years).
If it's just a core and refractive plastic for the swirl then bah.

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
Personally, the only times I have ever seen the castle all decorated for the Holidays was pre-2007. I have yet to see the "icicle" castle in person. It looks absolutely stunning in the pictures I've seen.
If those ugly curly-Q icicles contribute to the beauty at night, then I say leave them be.
As far as the "snow" goes, being from a desert I'm used to seeing people insist that though it's 60-some-odd degrees outside, there should be fake snow everywhere. I guess that part doesn't bother me. I like the character it gives the castle...besides, they make it "snow" every night during Believe in Holiday Magic.

The "snow" during the Osborne Lights seems so natural that some people even forget where they really are and try to catch the "flakes" with their tongues. I saw one chick nearly barf one time.... I almost ruptured my spleen from holding in my laughter until I could get far enough away...
So yeah, the artificial snow does add to the overall experience.

That is fun watching people try to catch the "snow" on their tongues!!Mousekedude wrote:The "snow" during the Osborne Lights seems so natural that some people even forget where they really are and try to catch the "flakes" with their tongues. It really is, Amy. Now I hope to try and get some of these experiences on camera.

I always wonder... do the people of the nation need to go to their eye doctors? You can clearly see it's soap bubbles not water.

Maybe they think that because it's Disney, it's probably candy foam or something "magical" like that....Wizzard419 wrote:I always wonder... do the people of the nation need to go to their eye doctors? You can clearly see it's soap bubbles not water.

There are eatable bubbles I've seen be sold that are flavored.

My sister-in-law got those for all the kids in the family when we went out to California for Christmas in 2003. They tasted worse than what I would imagine the soapy snow would taste likeelizabethswann wrote:There are eatable bubbles I've seen be sold that are flavored.

I had gotten cherry flavored before and that one was good. The other ones weren't that great.Amy wrote:My sister-in-law got those for all the kids in the family when we went out to California for Christmas in 2003. Those iceicles could be worse, but I think they could also be a lot better. I am really surprised they don't light up SB castle like they light up Cinderella Castle. It really is nice to see the parks all decorated for the holiday season.

So I got to see the big Paradise Pier model over at One Man's Dream at MGM and those towers in place of Maliboomer are parachute ride(s). So the question is: Is this something Disney is planning for the area and just haven't announced anything or something they put on the back burner and just left on the model?

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
From what I remember reading, they want to do some sort of play-like area there but it wouldn't make much sense considering they have the Paradise Park already on the opposite side.
