Think of those types of carnival rides where you ring the bell by using a mallet. It rises you up a bit off the floor to almost make you think that you'll be shot up unexpectedly. You wait a minute or so before being shot up to the top, bouncing at least three times before coming back to the ground. You do get a nice view around Anaheim depending on which part of the ride is open.

Oh ok! I was on something similar to that in Cedar Point, it's a huge amusement park in Sandusky OH.

Was Mallaboomer there for a long time? Was it a popular attraction? I guess I'll never get to ride it. :(

It's not as popular as all the other rides. The wait every time I go is about ten minutes but it's fun. I enjoyed it the couple of times I've been on it. I'm not sure if it will be going or not but if you ever get a chance to go, try to see if you can go on if the ride is still around.

Maliboomer on Wiki. it's a tower-style ride which propels people from the bottom to the top. kind of like those "Strong-man" games at carnivals and such - where you hit the the peg at the bottom with a mallet in order to ring the bell at the top.

Thanks js3901! I always forget you can find anything on Wikipedia! Hopefully I'll get a chance to ride that if we make to DL this year!

...it'd be Tower of Terror! Must say I never did ride the Maliboomer, I don't love the ups and downs unless there's a fabulous theme like the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
Pretty much, except Maliboomer's main thrill is the suprise "up" and ToT is the surprise "down."
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Well, the Maliboomer is not leaving anytime soon...word has it that it will cost too much to take it down right now, and WDE would rather put the money in other areas of the park first. So we get to have it for a while now, which is good...it's a good ride, and goodness knows DCA can't afford to lose any rides at the moment. Maybe in five years, but not now.

Every carnival in the country has one of those rides. The whole point of DL was to provide a better experience than a carnival. So lets see something more original than carnival rides.

Oh wow. Well I'm not really that heartbroken. I live in Las Vegas and would much rather ride the Big Shot at Straosphere.

Like I said, if they want to tear it out later, fine, but they shouldn't do that until they've got enough rides elsewhere to make up for it. DCA is severely lacking in that department. Hopefully with the addition of the Little Mermaid ride and Carsland it should fix the problem. THEN they can tear down the Maliboomer and put in a new, better ride there!

Is the new ride going to be anything like what I grew up with in Coney Island?

Here it is:

As I remember it was a lot of fun.

^ It was rumored that they were wanting it to be like the Parachute Jump ride from Knott's Berry Farm but so far I haven't heard any word on if they will go with the idea or not.
