I think by leaving it normal during the day and changing it at night makes it okay by me. I think he would like the idea of a ride changing night and day.

I was reading this article just now http://disney.go.com/inside/issues/stories/v050809.html
and I was thinking about how much Walt really cared about the rides, what people would think, and how creative he was. I sure wish there was someone, anyone within the company that cared about the parks like Walt did, and the preservation of the original rides. I do agree that if they were going to do anything a day/night ride would be the only way I could accept this wonderful ride changing.

People people... there is no way they will significantly change PotC on anything like a permanent basis... and this whole concpet reeks of "completely made-up 'rumor'" to me...

I totally agree. It's all about how to save a buck and using the "current" cool movie.

The biggest problem with that is its gets dated.

That's what I love about HM, POTC, Thunder, Space, Matterhorn, Old Subs. They are based on a cool time/place/concept. Not some movie.

Set aside the movies, it's really the price. They need to put the money into it. That's why Indy's so good. They put 100 Million into it. Whereas, when they made the 1998 Tomorrowland they only put 98 mill into the WHOLE land. No wonder it sucked.

I agree with Sub on this one. About the whole land thing, being 98 million and still basically not improving much with tomorrowland.

And where did that money go? I looked around and I didn't see 98 million in improvement. Actually, I didn't see any improvement.

You said it Sub - all that stuff gets dated fast when based on popular movies. I can't see them sinking that kind of money... And I can't see this being a hit idea - sounds way to trendy [and too much like the usual rumor mill at work].

Sick that they spent that little on Tomorrowland - Indy is a classic now and Tomorrowland is in need of lots of help still...

That money went into three things: (1) destroying a lovely postmodern white-and-blue paint job for a rusty Buck Rogers-meets-Tatooine gulag, (2) adding stores, and (3) removing two of the most-fondly-remembered rides in the history of the park.

I think a day & night version would be a neato addition to the ride. But I would be happy to ride anything at Disneyland, but I like the idea of having a perserved classic version of the ride, and an update.

Does anyone know if this December mainly Christmas week of the PoTC will be done with it's refurb, or will it just beginning? My boyfriend (Franklin) stated he wanted to eat at the Blue Bayou, and I mentioned if PoTC is going thru refurb I wonder if the restaurant will be open?
Club33hopeful you posted a phone # to call ahead an make reservations, can you give that again, I can't find it  Do you know how far in advance you can make reservations, like months, weeks, etc?

Thanks a bunch!!

I think the night time PoC must just be a rumor. The Jim Hill article isn't even there any more.

The PotC refurb has been moved to March 6th - June 16th 2006. Blue Bayou will be open during December. You can call two months in advance. You can call Disney Dining at (714) 781-DINE, or (714) 781-3463.

Weren't the submarines one of Walt's Rides as well? There is a whole site http://www.yesterland.com/ dedicated to rides no longer at Disneyland, many of them from Walt's watch, and certainly many he had a hand in creating.
