So, from the looks of it, Sunshine Plaza will be gone? No more Sun Fountain? It's hard to tell the scale to which this new entry plaza will be built because it sounds humongous, but I don't know where they will put it all in terms of what's there already.

It's strange that there is no mention of Steve Jobs. I would think that he has to be the driving force behind all of this. I just can't picture Iger doing anything but taking the credit. Remember he was the driving force behind ABC while it fell like a rock. Does anybody know what the back story is to all of this?

Glad that they finally are going public with the info! I like the idea for Main Street - if you look at MK and MGM both use this very effectively. Going to be an interesting 5 years or so watching this all pan out, hopefully they do it right and concentrate on making it as creative and magical as the original rather than just letting the standards slip since it is "the other park". Still, with that budget it seems they are serious...

I bit thick on the Pixar for me, but if it prevents them from converting more of Disneyland Proper into Pixarland, that's cool.
If the Little Mermaid section is anything like the DisneySea version, that should be worth the price of admission right there.
And yet another acknowledgement that everything all us crazy Internet wingnuts have been saying for years was right on the money.

On the surface there is hunger and fear. Men still exercise unjust laws. They fight, tear one another to pieces. A mere few feet beneath the waves their reign ceases, their evil drowns. Here on the ocean floor is the only independence.

Here's a link with some concept art:

Someone has posted many more screen capture images from Cast TV in another Disney forum, but I don't know the etiquette in regards to putting up a link to another forum. I have to say, the images look pretty good. I'm not completely enthralled by the "1920's Hollywood" theme, but I do expect a better all-around Park when everything is completed.

When i heard this news i jumped for joy!!
This has to be the best news for the Disneyland resort, in my opinion. DCA definitely needed some TLC and a new look to drive in more visitors. From the articles Napolean's been posting this looks like it's going to be such an awesome facelift!!
The new watershow looks especially exciting...ive been dreaming of a water show going in paradise pier ever since I saw it. Something similar to what they have at the Bellagio in Las Vegas with Disney magic would make it a definite nighttime entertainment contender!
Carland looks awesome too...i always thought removing that parking lot would be great for expansion. I will definitely be posting up pics with construction progress for all those who cant be here to see it in person.
Im reeeeeally excited about all of this if you couldnt already tell.

Two questions about the upgrades that I think I may have missed.
Where are they planning on seating 9000 people for the water show? Bleachers perhaps, but any idea where they'd be and how they'd fit into the theme?
What happened to a rumor I heard about an upgrade for the Hollywood backlot? To me that's the most troublesome part of the park. I've rarely seen many people back there, even with ToT.

Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

Yeah, Millionaire is still empty and Hollywood and Vine is still barely used if at all. Those two could use attractions in them already! Run the classic Red Car streetcars from Main Street to Hollywood over to ToT. Makes sense to me if they could pull it off - same era, same general themes, you could make it fit I think. That corner needs help...
Thanks for the OC Reg. map - pretty much how I would imagine it laid out.
KABC's coverage has some interesting footage of models that aren't shown elsewhere online [yet]

The Carland stuff looks a little underwhelming to me for a few reasons (not the least of which is I think that's Pixar's weakest film). But, from a WDW vet point of view, the restaurant sounds like a clone of Sci Fi, and the ride smells like Test Track to me. However if you don't make it to WDW on a regular basis (or at all) I can see how they'd be pretty cool to have out west.
The Little Mermaid ride/area and the World of Color look fantastic. I've wanted to see a TLM ride -forever-. Very interested/excited to see how this all unfolds.
