Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
I've been reading the back issues of MiceChat (I've gotten a bit behind) Does anyone know why they would be replacing the loop in California Screamin' already? Aren't those roller coasters supposed to last longer than that?

When did you read that? I recall they had to remove the loop for a period when doing work on that area (for toy story) as well as replacing the background as part of the new theme, but I don't recall a brand new loop being needed.

CALIFORNIA SCREAMIN':
The loop on California Screamin' is being completely replaced during the current refurb. Once complete, this should give the welders a break for a while.

Ah, I didn't notice since I stopped reading when they were promoting firework photos. Recently, they added brakes in right before the loop so I am guessing the cars were going through with too much force so now it's time to replace it.

Oh, hmmm, I just thought it was odd that they would be replacing track so soon after it was built. I skip over the advertising in all emails. I know that is how they provide us interesting things to read so I don't complain, I just skip...Wizzard419 wrote:Ah, I didn't notice since I stopped reading when they were promoting firework photos. Have they been replacing other sections frequently? It is over 10 years old and outdoors, plus (learned this off of wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt) it has to comply with residential zoning codes about noise which impacted the path of the trains.

I didn't hear about the track replacement. The only track replacement I know of was Matterhorn...at least I'm sure it was one or just an update.

Ooohh and it's early, no beatings for you today!
I always wondered if that player piano in the golden horseshoe is broken, it is never on and may not even have power. With the handrails being added up the staircases, that one goes with one of their crazy criteria that on either side you have an unbroken path for you hand.

Shhh. I thank early trips to school now for doing it.
I think the handrails, much like the ones on the Alice ride, look real tacky and look like a spectacle. It's just too much, overkill.

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
I recently saw a commercial for HalloweenTime at DL and once again they are using the villains (of course). It appears the folks in Advertising have taken a cue from the Darth Vader clip and have villains riding several attractions. My favorite has to be Maleficent on the HM...when the ghost pops up, she changes into the fire-breathing dragon.elizabethswann wrote:And flashing his lightsaber at the Haunted Mansion ghosts after they scared him.NaCler wrote:Darth is too busy riding the Teacups at DLR, remember?mindflipper wrote:What?!? On topic with today's update, the Carthay Circle Theatre is looking marvelous so far! I'm quite sad about the change of theme for the Carnation Plaza Gardens. I love sitting over there during the day (whether there is a group performing or not) just hanging out in a semi-quiet, shaded location. I also recently started sitting over there for the fireworks. Though you cannot see the majority of them, it provides a different angle of the castle and is pretty sweet for the pyrotechnics that are around the castle. Plus, it also provides a unique view of Tink (and Dumbo during Magical) flying by...she's still difficult to photograph though...
