Oh they were also testing out the star tours marquee today, it goes between light speed and a star field, I went over to check out the area and it's quite bland. They took away stuff (like the nice awnings) and didn't put anything new in.

Did anyone report that the Jewel D'Orleans is now gone from Disneyland (sign is painted out and the store is empty) I'm guessing the jeweler just wasn't making enough to stay open. It was owned by someone other than the disney company.

Also, that little rock island/platform in the lagoon, by the CS launch, is that new or had it always been there?
I thought the Pirates update(s) were supposed to go live on the 20th...(at least the update with Blackbeard) It didn't happen?

I can't remember when Jewel D'Orleans closed, but it's been quite a while. I think there was a brief discussion in one of the Disneyland topics on the board somewhere. From what I remember, the jeweler's other locations remain open but they had to close the DL shop. I believe it was due to slow business.

I went before, I have a feeling they had all the updates active but just kept the old video playing until the changeover.

Speaking of, I am surprised the priates 4 stuff wasn't already playing for WoC (assuming, I haven't seen any comments on it yet) since they put promo stuff like that in a month before the movie hits theaters.

I'm guessing they must have moved out within the last month or so since they are usually swit with coverups/removals of stuff. I have a feeling it was always a losing venture since people won't travel to DLR to buy high end luxury goods.

I knew we had a topic about the closing of Jewel D'Orleans! The original shop closed last year in April, but supposedly a new one moved in and kept the same name. Perhaps that's the shop that recently closed...below is the link for the topic.

I was wondering if they wanted to do a mini-official opening of the change with Ian McShane to preside over it?

That's the one I'm talking about, I was aware of the previous closure and I am guessing the latest tennants thought they could make a go of it. Each time the store closes they paint out the name and they put it back on when the new renters come in.

Neat, never saw the overflow area for Star Tours before, I'm assuming the updates make it better than in the past.

I still don't get all the secrecy with the signage for little mermaid now, I was guessing it was supposed to be some sort of big press unveiling.

I'm not talking about WoC, at least earlier, I'm talking about the ride stuff.

Wow. TLM looks nice. Makes me hope that the Fantasyland Expansion TLM looks as great.

And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Don't get your hopes up; Fantasyland Expansion TLM looks more simpler than DCA's from the concept art...

Really? Rock work and a moat/simulated ocean is simpler looking?

It definitely won't be the colorful, theatrical exterior that DCA's has...

Indeed. We'll have to wait and see but I think MK's will be the better looking of the two. But don't get me wrong, DCA's is amazing looking.

I think you will be right about that MadEye. At least about the exterior. We shall see if the two attractions are identical or not. I think MK's will be slightly different (better?) because they will have time to see what works and what doesn't in DCA so those things can be fixed for MK.

Like you said, we have to wait and see.

I will say that I wasn't real crazy about the paint job that was given to the replica of the Palace of Fine Arts at first...but it has grown on me as I see the rest of the building unveiled. I can't wait to see it in person!
