Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
Possibly, though the nice thing about WOC is that for additions to the main show mechanism don't require any mechanical stuff (it's all done from the booth), if they want to add extra projectors like they did for the mapping for the Tron segment, then that's their call.
Oh, speaking of pirates, I did go by and all the stuff is gone but the ships haven't moved an inch. I wonder if they have to check the rail or something to make sure it wasn't damaged?

Could there still be some items under the water that still have not yet been removed?Wizzard419 wrote:Possibly, though the nice thing about WOC is that for additions to the main show mechanism don't require any mechanical stuff (it's all done from the booth), if they want to add extra projectors like they did for the mapping for the Tron segment, then that's their call.

It didn't look like it, but it might be possible they have to make sure nothing messed up the track in the first place. The really odd thing is that they left the boat moored in that odd spot with a power cable (to keep the ship lamps running) going back to the main dock. A lot of the work left looks like it's related to getting the handrails and whatnot put back in on Tom Sawyer's Island, they even took out the dock's rails.

Makes you wonder just how much $$$ it cost to tear apart Disneyland and put it back together for these POTC film premieres?

That and since they didn't use a movie theater, but rather the park itself, how much revanue did that take away by kicking people out?

I'm guessing they make enough off the movie itself, that the costs for putting on the premier are fairly small in comparison.Wizzard419 wrote:That and since they didn't use a movie theater, but rather the park itself, how much revanue did that take away by kicking people out?

As long as those expenses are picked up as part of the marketing costs of the film and not part of the park expenses, then yes, it doesn't impact the park as far its expense budget. However, locking down that area from the regular tourists or limiting the number of guests due to the volume in the park for the premiere can impact their revenues for that particular day. Hopefully they make it up in selling POTC merchandise at the event.

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
I wonder if they do like some huge companies do, where if one division wants to use the assets/resources of another they have to "rent" (money or some other compensation) it, they may give a discount rate as well. So the marketing expenses might have had to go to that as well since films and parks are not the same branch.mindflipper wrote:As long as those expenses are picked up as part of the marketing costs of the film and not part of the park expenses, then yes, it doesn't impact the park as far its expense budget. Oh, they are going to do a pirates encore I bet. I'm guessing the raising of the platforms was unrelated (other than inspection/repairs) though since all that stuff is on top of buildings.MmeLeota wrote:Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner!mindflipper wrote:...or maybe update the POTC segment as POTC4 comes out soon.Wizzard419 wrote:What is the summer blockbuster for them this year, Cars 2? Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
Well I finally got around to reading this week's update. Looks like I was on the money with predicting some sort of testing for TLM. Claims that it had some CM testing. I would expect soft openings during the next week or two to start.

Ah, they did keep the doors (I was actually curious if they would keep the sliding glass doors).
Do they know why DCA suddenly put up a bunch of no-smoking signs on the walkway to calafornia screamin' (between the ice cream stand and the coaster)? Has there been a rash of smokers there or something?
