This is not a new rumor. In 2001 disney was thinking about removing but it did not happen because the rocket rods were being removed. Disney clould not remove two rides in the same land at once.

I think that the astro orbitor is great how it is, and that Disney should keep it the way it is. I also think that an upgraded version of the people mover should be installed on the original people mover track/platform.
