I would love to do a race!!!! I always love the rowing machines, granted this would be different, but I would still enjoy doing it. I have never been apart of anything like this. Most of the time I have a kid in front and a kid behind so the strokes seem to be rather......um......how shall I put this, off time, to say the least. It is hard to row when the person behind or in front leave their oar in the water.

Hey Doc, you should try it out for the DL5, see if you can all do a race if they'll allow it. Then come back and tell us how it went.

I'm still considering it! Knowing me, I will probably have a last minute decision but I'm working on it, I promise.

We love the canoes and I make my kids paddle the whole time. The worst experience was when a bunch of overweight out of shape people we onboard and they just sat there while my family and the 2 CM's paddled, we got passed up and made the CM's mad. These 2 guys were in incredible shape but after the go around they were quite a bit spent.
Trying is an excuse to fail! Just go and do it!

Personally, because of this exact situation, I don't see any problem with DLR putting a weight limit on the canoes. I feel they should have done the same thing with IASW, instead of deepening the trough.

My only issue is how embarrassing would it be for the person getting on the attraction and the cast member who has to tell someone please step over here on the scale. Oh I'm sorry sir you’re too fat for this attraction please have a seat in our seating area.

Disney has to accommodate everyone, or at least try to.

I was at Disneyland in the summer when there was the earthquake, and the canoes was the only ride open because they could tell that there wasn't any damage to them. It was funny because the line was really long because all the other rides were closed. We never went on it though.

The canoes are fun, what better way to work off lunch and see if you can pass either the Mark Twain or Sailing Ship Columbia.

The other thing that makes them fun is to see how few people in the park have ever really been in a canoe. Most take the paddle and splash each other as they get out of sync while attemping to paddle.

You know, the canoes are the only Disneyland attraction I've never been on...well, that and the Columbia sailing boat, actually. And trust me, it wasn't for lack of trying...I had a SoCal Select AP and the canoes were never going the days I went! (I used my AP from September to November, then I moved out of state...*sob*). That's one thing I really regret not being able to do.
