i know we'll definitely be going to DL within the next couple of years, and if all goes well, we definitely will ask to say hi to oscar then! that's so cool that he's such a part of DL and its history. man, i never realized how little i knew about these DL "secrets" and trivia. the more i hang out on these forums, the more i learn about stuff like this.

And you question my loyalty to Disneyland over WDW....

lol, well, i don't know dl trivia -because- i love wdw so much and focus on there! lol

Some Sad news, but with a nice twist. Oscar will be retiring VERY soon. It is truly sad that Oscar will be retiring, this means there are only 2 other cast members that have worked at Disneyland for 50 years or more. And to ME Carnation Cafe will never be quite the same as it has been, with Oscar coming out and walking around.

Some good news though is that Oscar will continue doing a shortened schedule Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for as long as he can. Disney convinced him to stay and work a little longer during retirement. Another piece of good news is that they, Disneyland, will be giving Oscar a HUGE retirement party at Mainstreet station. I'm still not sure whether they will be doing this during operating hours or before or after hours. I'm assuming if they do it it will probably be in the morning before park opening.

For those of you that are planning on going to Disneyland in the next month or so GO and see Oscar before you can't. Or before he goes on a limited schedule.

For those of you wondering who is the next longest running Cast Member it is the Lead Pyrotechnician, who is 84 years old. He started in the same week as Oscar did.
