I'm all set to try the Monte Cristo no matter what the cost. It's my birthday present from the family! Is there anything else I ought to try?

FYI for those who don't know, you can get the Monte Cristo also at the newly revamped Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square. It's $4 cheaper than Blue Bayou's - and from the description it sounds the same. Plus beignets.

This may sound kinda dumb...but isnt the monte cristo sandwich REALLY greasy? Sounds kinda gross to me.

Not at all - eats like a regular sandwich, fingers were just fine in the end. One might think it would be the consistancy of french fries being fried up but it isn't at all. I thought it was terrific - the meal is big enough to split with all the other sides that come with it...

I want to sit on the terrace thing...right next to the water. And I was just wondering if I have to make reservations inorder to get a table there or if we can just walk in to the restaurant and get one.

Asante Sana

I think it is greasy compared to normal sandwiches. I know my fingers have oil on them when I eat the sandwich. But mmmmm, I love them. The greasyness is part of the delight. :) It's not for the feint-hearted :)

So true - that is one monster, doesn't look huge but it isn't lite by any stretch!

I'd get reservations - that place fills up very fast. We booked it close to a month out from when we went and when we went no one was getting in without reservations. Everyone sits out on the patio [what you see from Pirates] but I think they seat first come first serve for reservation times. We got there a bit before 11:30 for lunch [our time was 1130] and just got a seat on the waterfront [only one table was left after we sat down and that was next to be seated]. Folks arriving later than us for the same time were seated in from there from what I could tell...

You can ask for waterfront seating when you check in for your reservation. they usually do what they can to accomodate, though it may mean waiting quite a bit longer.

I always want to get waterfront seating, and I'm always willing to wait. But it seems like everytime I go the majority of the party is too hungry to wait. Sucks for me. But sometimes we still get lucky and get the water. 8)

I was so excited when one of my friends finalized his plans to come down for a weekend and go to Disneyland that I actually had to search for this topic because I didn't want to create a duplicate. I made us priority seating arrangements today for an early lunch at the Blue Bayou and I can't wait! I've always looked in the restaurant enviously as I floated by riding POTC. Now it's my turn to sit and watch everyone else as I devour my Monte Cristo sandwich!

I recently visited Disneyland. We ended up waiting in line for Nemo and so by the time we wanted to reserve Blue Bayou, there was nothing left. :(

We've only eaten there once. It was so dark, I couldn't rightly see what I was eating. I just remember my salad having literal "leaves" in them (looked like tree leaves ).

Ate here in 1996 on my last west coast trip. LOVED it. All of it, the food, the atmosphere everything. POTC is definitely better in DL than WDW.

Addlema was in town last week. We made reservations to BB but still have to wait 45 minutes before being seated. They messed up our name with another guest that had a similar name. After seeing several groups of 2 be seated which we knew came in after us we had to complain several times to be seated. The jambalaya is fantastic though!
