Monorail in DCA?

Post by rudekick » May Tue 02, 2006 10:55 pm

From MousePlanet:
"...From the very-much-rumor file, Imagineering has supposedly seriously pitched the idea of extending the Monorail track to travel around the inside DCA, with a new station being built at Paradise Pier. Guests would then be able to pick their destination of Disneyland, Downtown Disney, or DCA. There is already a plan to shutter Boardwalk Games later this year or next year to build a new Pixar-based attraction. Presumably a new monorail station would be in addition to this project and in place of it. From an administrative perspective it is easy to see how a Paradise Pier monorail station would be helpful to the park in getting guests to the back area of DCA. On the other hand, a monorail hardly fits with the area's theming."

What do you guys think?

It would be nice, but it wouldn't gel at all with Paradise Pier's theme. There have been other rumors of a kind of transportation system within DCA that would fit all the themed areas and would work much better.

Due to some information I cannot repeat here, let's just say that the powers that be may or may not be scrapping most of Paradise Pier anyway if these changes occur. The monorail wouldn't go through the beachy area, but a newly themed section of what would be Paradise Pier.

If it all pans out the way it was explained to me, it'd be definately for the better.

Yeah, I was wondering how the Toy Story ride that is supposed ot be built over there would fit in with the theme as well. I am actually really excited about what's going to happen in DCA over the next several years :)

I think that a monorail would be cool and certainly a convenience for people going from DL to DCA.

Of course, would it mean an end to DCA-only and Disneyland-only theme park passes? Or would the monorail only go from DCA to DTD and back, and from DTD to DL and back, with everyone being forced to disembark and show their admission at the DTD station?

Because how cool would it be to make it a huge loop? Or to have two-way service between DL and DCA?

I'm sure the former would be the case.
