Safety railing? I don't recall seeing one when I was there. If you're able to get a photo of it the next time you go if it's there, let us know.

Wow lots of updates. It looks like all Radiator Springs needs now is to get the road repaved... ironically. Very interesting to see paving work being done in front of TLM as they just redid that area. I guess they never did the walkways in front of it?

They did redo the paving in the area for world of color but my guess is that the paving might not have been right for the route (the weight and all) or there might have been problems under the paving itself. World of color is also shut down for now since it's a slow time and they can work on it.

Oh, it must have been there for a long time and I just never noticed it as this 2005 photo shows it. My guess is that it came about when they started using the castle for fireworks.elizabethswann wrote:Safety railing? I don't recall seeing one when I was there. So how much would you count off for the Little Mermaid?Wizzard419 wrote:Didn't this topic start back before anything had really begun? Since Toy Story Mania is a +1 if not more since it was a creative application, though a little poor in execution since it takes forever to get on.
The theme changes to the rides Sun wheel -.5 (since I liked the old design better), the swings +.5, the crazy mouse +.5, +1 for the overhaul of the dining to fit in better, and removal of the maliboomer +.25 (since it was progress but not replaced with anything).
I also think Little Mermaid deserve more than -1 since it's the same as getting a bad gift in a pretty package.

2, one for being a bad ride/poorly executed one and one for hyping expectations and delivering garbage.

This week you get the fireworks hose since it's lunar new year.
I often wonder why the teardown seems to go much faster for HMH than the setup? It is more to do with there being less sophisticated/complex systems to work with so everything takes far less time?

You know my policy on claims of schedule changes that do not happen... this time it will be with boiling oil.
I want to add something about the rails, as much as people b*tch and moan about them, they are most likely not from the lawyers at Disney. They are probably being forced to do it by Cal-OSHA.
Speaking of railings, I wonder if the collapsable ones are not up to code anymore? I keep forgetting to bring it up, but after the CS rennovation/repair the rails on the launch platform were locked into the up position (there is even a bolt locking them in place).

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
I do wonder how long it will be until they take down the walls in front of everything? They must be getting near completion for the carthay circle area. Funny thing, I don't think the fountain is the centerpiece for the area. It looks (at least from the ground it looks like it). I wonder if they will keep the walkway behind condor flats as well? That actually was kind of a nice thing for getting out of the park.
I'm also curious about the red car, I wonder if they will have to take down all the Electronica stuff so the cars can make it under?

I would guess the walkway behind Condor Flats will go back to being a backstage area won't it?
Is Electronica supposed to keep going on indefinitely? If not, then I would think when they introduce the streetcar, that would be a good time to get rid of the Electronica stuff...

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
I'm guessing there is nothing that would be the centerpiece to the area, but the focus would be the dining establishment. I am wondering if the sudden spike in price for the exclusive club, the down economy, and the not so interesting view will kill it?
The area behind condor flats will probably go back to what it was before, but it wasn't much of a back stage area (it literally is just behind Soarin and is wide enough for a truck to drive down). It was interesting to finally be allowed beyond the chain though. They had it all landscaped up and put in temporary lights, speakers, etc.

Wow! From what I've heard/seen of the new entrance, it seems well worth the money! I think that the throwback to the time of Walt's Arrival to the west will be a great addition to the park. As weak as Cars was for a Pixar film, I think that the plans for Cars Land look great.
