Subsonic Radio is now blasting at 128k!

Post by subsonic » Aug Fri 12, 2005 2:08 pm

Thanks to jgreco for donating boatloads of bandwith and adding 24 128k streams. Now Subsonic Radio can be heard in CD quality!

This is an amazing leap for Subsonic Radio. I remember when I started out, SR only ran 10 56k streams. Now I'm hosting over 70 streams at different bit rates! Whee!

I know some of you can only connect to the 56k streams due to your work limiting ports. In order to feed the 128k stream I need to take down the 56ks. I believe it has to do with the 56k stream being on port 8000. Do not fret. The 128k is on port 8000 as well!

Thank you all for supporting Subsonic Radio!

Thanks so much! It was so annoying competing for one of the 5 spots on the 56k stream, now there's plenty to go around!

Thank you all.

A year ago I wouldn't have bothered with a 128k connection. Only about 30-40% of the tracks were at 128k quality. Now I think it's closer to 80%

Hehe I tried using this at work... the whole office is on an (admittedly fast) DSL line ("whole office" is like, 6 computers) and the other IT guy noticed

He and I agreed I should stick to the 64k... with which I've never had a quality problem, actually... but the 128 sounds nice at home.
