Track Additions - 1964 World's Fair

Post by subsonic » Jul Wed 06, 2005 11:39 am

I have added the 1964 World's Fair Album. Most of these tracks are similiar to the tracks that are used in the park with slight variations. I figure it would be fun to have. It was also easy for me to add. :)

EDIT:
Last night I found a lot more tracks from the World's Fair. It was much harder to add, because I have some of these songs in my full playlist. Click on the comments button to see all the tracks added.

This is great. I attended the '64 World's Fair, but I was just three and a half years old. I have only very faint memories. Listening to these tracks will be a real treat.

Actually, I was wondering why these attractions were first presented at the World's Fair. What I heard was that Walt was unsure what people would think about having attractions like this in his Theme Park, Disneyland. He thought that people were more uptight on the east coast. He decided to test his attractions at the New York World's Fair. He figured that if people on the east coast liked the attractions, they would work on the west coast.

I am excited to hear these tracks as I have always been curious to know what these attractions originally sounded like.

It was my understanding that the planners of the NY World's Fair asked Walt to create attractions for the fair.

The different corporate sponsors of the pavilions at World's Fairs always want something to advertise their brand, and the planners always want something new and innovative to show off. Walt figured he could get his attractions... Carousel of Progress, It's A Small World, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and the "Magic Skyway" (what became the Grand Canyon and Primeval World portions of the Disneyland Railroad)... made on the dimes of GE, PepsiCo, the State of Illinois, and Ford, respectively... then just ship them back to California and install them at Disneyland for a fraction of the cost of designing, creating, building and testing all on the Disney Company's own moolah.

And, surprise, he was right.

I don't even know why I decided to add these. I just saw them sitting there. I figured it would be interesting. I still have a lot to add.

I am glad i was able to help you complete the set of the 1964 worlds fair from new york ( the place with flying saucers on pole ala men in black )

a couple of the tracks are read throughs and rough cuts of the rides and attractions

the COP as it was is far far version of what appeared in Disneyland as to what i refer to as the "wife beater version" due to his condensending attatude to his wife. there is 2 versions there. the "welcome" is best one due to his utter attempts to not to cus.

and Uncle Walt doing, well trying to do a reading for the Ford's Magic Skyway as he also attemp to not to cus also..

and the its a small world background music with out the kids singing is very long and you can enjoy the complete score which is nice
