Re: New Stream addition: Dole-Whip
Dole whip has officially replaced the background and soarin' streams as my favorite. Granted that may change should a Pinocchio Haus stream ever show up.

Re: New Stream addition: Dole-Whip
New (minor) Dole-Whip addition:
Brian Eno - "Deep Blue Day" (from his "Apollo" album)
it kinda pushes the definition of he Dole Whip stream, but I think that it fits. It's kind of an ethereal, ambient island music song....

Just took a listen to it on youtube ~ I think it fits pretty well. Definitely a laid back Hawaiian sort of feel...BleuLlama wrote:New (minor) Dole-Whip addition:

Quick announcement...
Mondays and Fridays will be "Music only" days... none of the dialogue tracks or area audio tracks with weird noises and such will be played. Just songs. Lots of songs!

Re: New Stream addition: Dole-Whip
Just returned from Aulani. Several interesting things to report. One, despite being only 20 minutes from the Dole Plantation, Aulani just got Dole Whips within the last couple of weeks. They are hidden in the Lava Shack and are only labeled as Pineapple Soft Serve in the self serve ice cream machine there. If you didn't know about them, you'd totally miss them. Second, all of the elevators play standard Disney tunes, except that the words are all in Hawaiian. The bars, food, and pool areas are all terrific with some minor exceptions. The main pool is frequently closed, due to chemical imbalances in the water. Get to the pool and beach early, as most chairs are gone by 8:30 in the morning. Slides, lazy river, and infinity pools are quite nice, as is the private snorkeling area. Ama Ama restaurant is beautiful, open air with beautiful beach views. The food doesn't quite make the grade. Busy plates, trying a bit to hard to be trendy. Flavors only adequate, nothing more. Decor throughout is very interesting and well done. The Ko Olina area where Aulani is located is a very nice area overall and it's easy to get to attractions like the Dole Plantation and Pearl Harbor.
We were there during the two hurricanes. Managed to get our flight out in between the two.

Neat ~ thanks for the report. Too bad the food wasn't as good as the surroundings. I would chalk it up to the newness, but Aulani isn't all that new anymore is it? I wonder why they can't get the main pool regulated? Maybe not enough people use it with the ocean being right there? I'd love to see the snorkeling area ~ that sounds nice. And it would be very cool to hear the Disney songs in Hawaiian!inkydog wrote:Just returned from Aulani. Several interesting things to report. Re: New Stream addition: Dole-Whip
We have an ice cream stand in a nearby town that proudly serves 'Pineapple Dole Whip'. It is always fun to go there and see who orders one and then make a comment about MK to see if they too are in the know...they usually are...
