Subsonic Radio Player for Windows 1.0 released!

Today, we're releasing a new Subsonic Radio Player for Windows. We've been testing this internally for a few days now, and it seems to work quite well (even if I do say so myself!). Tonight, we decided it was at a good enough state that we can unleash it on the world. So without further ado, here's what you need to know:

To run the player, simply download the zipfile using the link below, then extract the folder it contains to somewhere on your computer. Double-click on the .exe file and away you go!

Note that you will need the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 installed on your computer to run the player. Details on where to get this are in the ReadMe.txt file.

The player is version 1.0. We don't think there's any show-stopping bugs in there, but let us know if you find any! Contact details for if you have any problems are in the ReadMe.txt file. We've tested it on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Wow this one took me by surprise. I had no idea there was even anything like this in the works. Looks real good from the screenshot and I will definitely be downloading this for my vista machine. Any plans for a Mac version of this?

Well if you have VMWare or Parallels installed, the Windows version will run in there

BTW, anyone who's using the Windows app, please do feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback! My email address is in the ReadMe file (or send me a PM on the forum). I'll be interested to hear what people think

PS, for some alignment hilarity, try running it on a Japanese version of Windows: http://acp.im/badalignment.png (I've no idea why it does that, but I'm also fairly sure that 99.9% of Subsonic's users are using an English version of Windows which doesn't exhibit that problem. )

Im having to download 2 things just to install it. .net framework and windows imaging. I guess I keep my pc pretty basic. Google chrome browser does the rest for me. Cant wait to get a Google PC. Other than that I hope it works.

Windows Imaging? There shouldn't be any need for that to run it. All you require to run the app is the .NET Framework 4 (which is what the application uses as a base to run from). The other libraries it needs are included in it (which are the two .dll files). I figured that most people would have .NET Framework 4 from Windows Update (assuming they keep their machines up to date). Otherwise, it's a simple download using the link in the ReadMe. I'm not sure where you're getting the Windows Imaging from.. I've not come across that one yet

(During beta testing, I was able to run the application having installed a fresh install of Windows XP, then just installing .NET Framework 4. Nothing else seemed to be required.)
