Post by rdeacon » Jul Fri 30, 2010 9:55 pm

Team SR is very pleased to announce we have an official iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch application for subsonicradio!!!

You can use this link to dowload the new application: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/subsonic ... d382017585
If you're outside of the US, you may need to use http://itunes.apple.com/app/subsonic-radio instead.

There is also I link on the right side of the site to download the application.

It works on every iOS device out there right now. (all iPod Touches, all iPhones, iPad)
(on iOS 3.0 and newer)

And the best part its Free!

Many thanks to BleuLlama for developing this application and Cory for the graphic design!

It's amazing so far and I'm real glad that there's an actual app instead of those that used the tuner internet radio. At least this is free!

It's loading...waiting...waiting...waiting  ...oh my gosh! waiting... waiting...
EDIT: Yay! Ok, I started out with the 96k stream, that did not work so well   24k stream, much more iphone friendly! And the web option is awesome for the forum...
Question though, as soon as I navigate away, the music stops...how are people getting it to run in the background?

Background will only work on iOS 4 devices that support multitasking (so iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and (IIRC) the latest iPod Touches).

Just downloaded the app on my iPhone 4 and it works awesomely.

Now.. I need to find a way around the bandwidth cap O2 put on iPhones next so that I can listen on the go ;)

I do have an iPhone 3gs, that is why I am confused about why I can't get it to stay on in the background. And the 96k streams don't seem to work without stopping to buffer all the time. Does that have to do with whether I am in a 3G area? Or connected with wifi?
Oh! Do you have to have the new iOS 4 downloaded? I haven't done that yet...is that why?!

Correct. Backgrounding only works with iOS 4. (And only on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.)

As for the buffering issue, that's likely just a bad connection... does your iPhone show "3G" in the top? how many "bars" of signal does it show?
Try it out once you're connected with WiFi also. :)

Hope you all enjoy it! Have a great one, everyone!

BleuLlama I am really enjoying the application. It works fantastic. As for the unable to stream 96K it is an issue with AT&T network and coverage. The only way you can get continuous 96K coverage is if you have wifi coverage or almost perfect 3G. This was the same issue with streaming it through safari (once 3.0 came out), Tuner Internet Radio, and the Shoutcast app.

Mouseoholic got a tweet this morning saying that it was available... downloaded it... loves it....
You should have seen her... I thought she was having a heart attack... there we were, stuffing our faces with breakfast tacos at our favorite tex-mex restaurant, when she picks up her iphone and looks at it, then starts squealing like a stuck pig! I was all like "WTH...?!" I thought New York just got nuked or something... and then she tells me that the new Subsonic iphone app was available, and I was all like, "ah, that explains it..."

Oh how I hope you weren't having bacon in those tacos  then all that squealing could have just been an undercooked taco  That is so cool that she got that excited :D

Much easier to navigate that's for sure. All that expanding the screen just read things. Now just open it up, pick the stream, and listen.

Very nice!
