A Themes section for Subsonic Radio!

Post by subsonic » Mar Thu 24, 2005 2:02 am

A new item has been added to the left navigation. It's Themes! Yes, that's right you can now have a different look for Subsonic Radio. I've been slaving over a Tomorrowland Theme adding in little scenes from Tomorrowland (Well, only 2, I hope to add more later).

In addition, I've released the source files of the default and Tomorrowland theme so, perhaps, creative people will add their own themes.

So, teleport on over to the new themes section! (Under the "Site" category)

I switched mine to the new Tomorrowland theme, it's totally sweet! Good job Sub!

Okay everyone! This is your chance to be creative, let's see some more themes!

Also, let's all encourage Subsonic to add more scenes to the Tomorrowland banner! 8)

Potential bad news:
I have a relatively fast machine. The tomorrowland header may slow down on slower machines.

Also, I believe there's a bug in the animation where it'll get slower the longer it's left on. Fortunatly, users don't stay on the same page too long with the exception of the now playing page. But that page refreshes with each new song. It could be a problem with longer songs though.

Fantastic, Sub!

I'm pretty proficient in Pshop, but have only just acquired Flash MX Pro. Perhaps this would be good project for me to get up to speed on Flash. I did review the psd file for your original theme. I appreciate someone who keeps well organized and labeled layers. Makes it so nice for the next guy. I can't tell you how many times I've opened a psd only to find the author had flattened everything and now I've got to recreate it all.

Again, great job!

Great job on the tomorrowland theme subsonic! It runs just fine on my machine, I love it, looking forward to more (maybe a theme for Epcot Center). BTW, did you use 3D animation for the peoplemover and what not?

Yes, I always cross my T's and dot my I's. I know it's much easier to come back to if I haven't used the file in a while. I also name all my variables discriptively. You don't HAVE to know flash. I can make a simple header out of a design you submit.

Yes, I used Lightwave to model the Peoplemover and Skyway which can be seen here in a higher resolution. http://www.subsonicradio.com/fan_art/
The logo spin was made in Swift 3D.

Hey nice job with the Tomorrowland theme. Are you planning on making other ones?

Edit: I just noticed the Skyway and Peoplemover! I love it!

Thanks, it's all a matter of time and practice.
As far as integrating into the forums, I felt it was too much work. Though, I guess it wouldn't be too bad. Submit an enhancement on it in the tracker.

Yes, I do plan on adding more scenes. In all honesty, I'm disappointed with how much work and time went into each scene but now that those are done they seem so short. The final product doesn't represent the time put in.
