Request duration extended & Track additions

Post by subsonic » Feb Thu 02, 2006 1:31 am

Request Duration Extension --
The duration between requests has been extended from around 1 day to around 4 days. This is going to be a big change for some of you. The reasoning for the extension is there have simply been too many repeats in the playlist.

For clarification on what the extension entails:
- The same track cannot be requested within *around* 4 days. I say around because it isn't exactly 4 days (yeah, it's poor english). I don't want people watching the clock to request the same song the exact time in 4 days.
- Your regeneration is the same...24 hours. You're still able to request more songs within 24 hours, just not one that's played within 4 days.

OK, Sub, just listening now to the Expedition Everest ride, and frankly, I wish I didn't have to wait 4 days to hear it again! That sounds wicked creepy!

The only thing I see problematic is that I think we all listen at different times and for different lengths. So If I miss a track that I really like because i m unable to listen at the time it was requested, it could be 3 or 4 or even 5 rotations before I'm able to hear it. However, I will happily play by the rules whatever they are.

That's what my only concern is too, I don't want to miss a song I really like. It would be cool if the songs regenerated at random times anywhere from 12 hours to four days. (I think that idea was brought up in another forum)

One of the reasons for the huge delay is that several of the tracks in the list have multiple variants. Sub wants to minimize the redundancy. Eventually attractions like Everest will accumulate additional tracks too.

I applaud the change! 8)

I enjoy the change too. That is why I love subsonic radio compared to other Disney Stations. A lot of the other stations continously play the same songs, and like someone mentioned before, it sounds too much like regular radio.

I love the wealth of audio at this site (not just songs!) and am looking forward to hearing more of it.

I know that I am guilty of getting to the office a lot of mornings and jumping online to request the tracks I truly enjoy hearing before anyone else gets into the office, because after that it's too hard to hear anything  sorry if I took up too much time on my request list in the mornings

I think the new rotation will be a good thing all the way around. I was listening to Streaming Soundtracks the other day and they boost about their no repeat days. I personally don't mind "some" repeating tracks  but I do love varity the most :D and from that I have expanded my track list here at SubSonic!

I dont mind having a 4 day wait. The only thing i don't like is as I am in a different time zone to most of you I often find that I am the only registered user. It's really irritating not being able to request a track because someone else did earlier when you're the only person listening anyway!

I think a lot of us are listening just not signed in to show registered users online. So you are not alone out there in SubSonicland :D we are secretly listening with you  you just can't see us

Great new additions Sub! Thanks! I'm enjoying the Triton Carousel music versions. I was surprised when I logged in this morning that all the new stuff was available to be requested--I must have luckily hit the 4 day thing right on. I'll probably only be able to listen nights and weekends, but eventually I hope to hear all the new stuff. Awesome site!

Just thought I ought to add:

This longer rotation is to keep me from requesting too many Pal Mickey tracks too often isn't it
