Bandwidth Limitation - 128k streams reduced

Post by subsonic » Dec Thu 22, 2005 2:12 pm

Due to high costs the 128k streams had to be cut back.

This is unfortunate but since this is a free site/station it's necessary.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

well it was nice while it lasted, but thanks for keeping some of them open. Would it be possible to switch some over from the 64k side and make a few more 128ks?

I believe the guy who runs the 128k stream is independent of the guy who runs the 64k stream

Quickgold is correct.

At this point, I'd rather have more streams than higher quality. I think people would prefer to listen a lower quality than not at all.

Thanks for all the work you put into the site [and all who broadcast it]. Personally, I'll take any stream that is up and running - I don't have a theatre system with the computer so these speakers can't much tell the difference between levels. So more stations is better than a few top quality ones

Though I really enjoy the fidelity of the 128k stream, I too would take more streams over higher quality, giving everyone a chance to listen.

I love the station and the site, you have something to be really proud of, Sub.

How about Paypal donations? I for one would be willing to pony up to help such a fantastic site! :D

Thats a hard one. Remember more than likely this music is copyrighted so if sub got money it could be seen as a profit and Disney could Sue. But thats all up to Sub

I think Paypal donations are a great idea. Not required to listen or join, but it would help Sub a great deal.

I'd be willing to chip in on a Paypal donation. The copyright issue is a good question though. There's no way the site operators are making money on this though with the bandwidth costs.

Well, I've heard people say that, because they are donations for maintanance costs and not for profit it would be okay to take donations. I have yet to really look into it though.
