It was a fantastic experience... I was there this morning and it was awe-inspiring. Marty's speech was perfect, the new(er) VP of Epcot really seems to understand the experiences that people have and had at Epcot -- he started working at Epcot as a parking attendance on opening day in 1982, and he told us the story today; it was fantastic.
I have the whole thing on video and will be posting it as soon as I can rip it from my now busted video camera (long story). There are extra special fireworks tonight, so I'm headed back to the parks now to catch that. With any luck at all, I'll be able to record it.

Very cool to have (almost) live updates on the day, looking forward to hearing the speech and hearing how the fireworks were. Thanks!joefox97 wrote:It was a fantastic experience... Holy. Freakin. Crap.
That was a LOT of fireworks. It was well put together; not what I (or a few other guests) were thinking it was going to be, but excellent nonetheless.. the ending was a barrage that I've never seen the match of. It was deafening and beautiful.
The part that would endear this celebration to SSR listeners was the ending to the night; playing over the AWESOME sound system in World Showcase (especially Plaza) -- all the old closed attractions and retired pieces of music (nearly all from the Official Albums, including Listen to the Land, Horizons, World of Motion, Makin' Memories) played LOUD for everyone to enjoy. It was a great experience to hear some of those retired tunes played over a full park system again. Truly magical. I met another gentleman tonight (who had not been on SSR radio before, amazingly) who was enjoying the music as much as I... it was telling that the few people who remained behind to listen to the lyrics knew all the songs and nearly all the lyrics. It wouldn't suprise me if I was standing next to a fellow SSR listener tonight.
Lastly, there was an instrumental piece played during the closing music (after Illuminations), played 2nd to last. If anyone else was there and knows what track it was, please let me know (either here or PM)... I had NO idea what track it was, but it was very unique. The only thing that the assembled group could figure was queue music for Captain EO or something similar, but not a one of us could place it.
Happy Birthday, Epcot, and thanks for all the memories... we've only just begun to dream!
