Do you have to buy any textbooks Len or are your texts online now?Len90 wrote:Glad to have been able to listen in for a week or two before it went live. Great job by those involved and I thoroughly enjoy the stream. It's perfect background music for studying and I think it will help bring me passing grades
I'd say back to the books, but everything is online, so back to acrobat reader for my histology material
If needed I would just download a textbook. I personally am not a big textbook learner to begin with. There are hard copies of the text on reserve at the library in the school as well. However, most stuff is going digital now. We don't have written exams at my school. All exams are done on the computer.Amy wrote:Do you have to buy any textbooks Len or are your texts online now?Len90 wrote:Glad to have been able to listen in for a week or two before it went live. Out of curiosity, how do they prevent cheating while taking exams on computers??Len90 wrote:If needed I would just download a textbook. I personally am not a big textbook learner to begin with. And may I presume the computers you're using don't have internet connections?Len90 wrote:Scrambled questions and answers along with proctors watching.
Thanks ~ I was curious how much of the textbooks and course materials were online or digital now.Len90 wrote:If needed I would just download a textbook. Good question. Either that or the proctors really have to be on their toes.mindflipper wrote:And may I presume the computers you're using don't have internet connections?Len90 wrote:Scrambled questions and answers along with proctors watching.
Good to know that I'm not the only one studying while listening.Len90 wrote: I'd say back to the books, but everything is online, so back to acrobat reader for my histology material
It depends very much on the subject and of course the individual universities/schools in question. Most teachers, regardless of subject, put their lecture notes up for download, but if the school doesn't buy campus licenses for digital versions of textbooks, it's not that easy (read: cheapAmy wrote:Thanks ~ I was curious how much of the textbooks and course materials were online or digital now.
No, they don't (or at least shouldn't have). Exam software is mostly set up so that you either cannot start any other applications (like browsers) or the network admins just block any connection other than the one to the servers supplying the questions.Amy wrote:Good question.
