We have a different hog haunting us.

Saw it yesterday thought that is odd, anyhow it is picking a track and repeating it every third track on the randomiser .

Yesterday it was celestial soda pop and this morning it is the vacation plan opening instrumental.

No stromtroppers though (whew)

Gotta love jcodirewolf's sense of humor! Today he requested:

Entrance Loop with Stormtrooper Chatter Edit
Entrance Loop 2 with Stormtrooper Chatter

I guess since it no longer pops up all the time in "random" selection he had to request them himself. Going through withdrawal, jcodirewolf?

I agree with everyone when it comes to the point system...as Cogsworth would say "if it ain't baroque, don't fix it".

But, should things change, I have an idea...bear with me

There is another Disney fan site (at least 1 that I know of anyway) out there who allows you to play music all the while you have your own "jukebox". I am not technical at all, and am not sure if it would even be possible; but if the "points to request music" were to go away, would it be possible for each user to have their own "jukebox" to add songs to? Each song would be worth X number of points (or measured by some other metric...i.e. # of requests=add 1 song) and can then be added to your jukebox to listen to at any given time.

Of course the details would have to be fine tuned, but it would be a way to encourage people to come to the boards so they can build their bank of music. Sometimes it's nice to listen to a track without having to wait for a couple of hours to hear it or wait until it's available to request again.

Have I confused you guys yet?

Picture this:

You are listening to the request stream and all of a sudden you want to hear the POTC ride-through. You go to request it and dang! It's not available til tomorrow night! but I want to hear it now...

Wait! I can go to my personal bank of songs and play it there. Yay! the world is good again.

The site I was referring to has set forth rules that by participating more on the site, you earn the privilege to add more favorites to your jukebox. (Every member has a certain amount of storage to start with, then builds from there)

For example, you can participate in the forum, request songs, donate...all these things can count toward your participation.

Like I said before, I'm not sure this would be possible from the technical standpoint, but it would eliminate the need for points.

BUT again I want to stress the quote from Cogsworth as noted in my previous post....I like this site the way it is.

That's an interesting idea, but its not one we would use for subsonicradio. Let me explain.

The main focus of subsonicradio is a communal radio where the members program the songlists for everyone to enjoy. To make a jukebox type set up would completely change the original purpose of the site. I understand the desire to play a song when you want to hear it, but there are other sites that have jukebox setups. I'm not saying the system is perfect, but I don't think we want to migrate away from the core of what we are.

I'm sorry if I didn't explain my idea well enough...I'm not really good at it. I am in no way suggesting to completely change the core of the site. My intention is to keep the communal streams. I love the communal streams! It's how my treasures list keeps growing! There's so much out there I would never even think of listening to and next thing I know...I'm adding it to my list.

I was simply suggesting that it might be a nice perk for participation on the site in lieu of the points system.

And believe me, I was on one of those other sites that has the jukebox as the only means of music, but I never felt comfortable there....and the music selection was nowhere near what you guys have!

(plus I don't know if it's technically possible to use both types of set up...if not, oh well. It was just an idea

)

I agree totally Jacca...and as I said in my original post, I love the site the way it is. I don't want it to change!

The suggestion was merely an idea if the site absolutely had to change.

I didn't mean to step on any toes or upset anyone and I'm sorry if I did. Just trying to help...
