HELP!! Using Windows 7 and I cannot hear the streams!

I am using Windows 7 and I cannot hear the streams through Windows Media Player. I can hear the "Ladies and gentlemen..subsonic proudly pesents....." part, but after that it stops and there is nothing. I am currently listening through the other site listed in the FAQ, but I prefer to use Windows Media Player! Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

P.S. This is my first time posting on the forum (even after my account was deleted from the server problems)!

I noticed we have an issue with the link. It might needs some tweaking with the new version of WMP.

You can open the stream from Windows media Player, by using the File->Open Url

Here is the links for the streams:

Request 96k: http://request-high.subsonicradio.com:8000
Scheduled: http://scheduled.subsonicradio.com:8004
Background 96k: http://streamer.rdeacon.com:8002

Tried that, and I still only get the very beginning subsonic presents part. It stops after that!

I tested that from home and it worked. We generally recommend you use Winamp, its a free player.

No, they do not work. I have the latest WMP and XP. Every time I hit the link I get "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Any other ideas? Thanks

I'm thinking it's got to be windows 7. It seem microsoft puts out an OS then's makes it work. After the disaster they had with Vista, I kinda don't blame them!

I'd use another program such as WinAMP(like a previous poster suggested), iTunes, or VLC(very nice).

I just tried WinAmp and I can not play anything at 96k. It will play anything lower. This is really weird. I had no problems playing either before.

Did you try using the second 96k stream? If you did and it did not work, try VLC. It works with just about anything.

I second VLC. I have the lists saved as a playlist (.pls) on my desktop. It was a quick link to the streams while the site was down. I have yet to stump it with a media choice.

Yep, I'm in the same boat as you. I have yet to find a audio/video format that it doesn't support.

I have a VLC as well. I just saved them to my desktop as pls and I can not play the 96k of anything. I can play any other lower one like the 64k. It keeps saying, "VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://request-high.subsonicradio.com:8000' "

I am having the same issue.... I wonder if it has something to do with the intro.... when I connect to the stream I get the into clip but once it plays thats it. it is as if it is thinking the stream is done.

The funny thing is that when I try it on another computer, like at my office, it works fine. I am so confused. I tried deleting my temp internet files, uninstalled my media players and reinstalled, check the settings and nothing. I can only listen to the 64k or below. I don't get it. It worked before the site went down to be upgraded and not now, weird.

Diznee4me... pop into chat when you get a chance, when you are home. This way I can see when you connect and what the issue is.
