What would have caused a different Media Player to come online this morning, when I opened up to listen? I made no changes to my settings in the last 24 hours, and now my media quality is not as good....

It could have been the track as well. There's plenty that are still at 24k quality even though you're on the 64k stream.

have you installed any new media programs? If you did, make sure you set it so it's not the default player for PLS files. Go into the program you want toplay SR, and choose that one to play the PLS files. That should help (possibly) clear it up.

Also, windows update can mess with file associations and reassign files back to Windows Media Player.

I hate how MS thinks this is helpful. Clippy to the rescue.
