Subsonic Radio

I have an odd question. My baymate and I listen at work...but we've connected through Windows media player...and we dont have the same track playing at the same time. Is this normal? She will have something completely different playing on hers than mine.

Are you both connected to the same stream? (64k)
Have you checked the IP you're connected to? There are relays in different locations you could be connected to.
One person's buffer length could be set to something different.

There's a lot of factors.

there would be a slight timing differance from about 15-30 sec differance. as to being differant tracks now thats odd. like sub said see if your listening to the same streak (ie. 64k 24k or 56k)

wouldn't be 56k stream due to the fact that WMP won't connect to it (I tried before, in fact I'm the one who discovered you could use WMP and had it added to the FAQ in the first place)

I noticed a difference the track position when using WMP and Winamp. And, I was running both off my relay. I think it has to do with the buffer rate the player is set to.

The way shoutcast(the method in which the tunes get to you) works is that it buffers the song that's playing on the server. Therefore, depending on when you tune in, you may start at a different part of the buffer, so thats why 2 concurrent streams do not necessarily play at the same time in the song.
